You’ve probably heard of laser hair removal at some point in your life. I first heard about it over 20 years ago. It sounded pretty great. Never shave again! Sign me up is what I thought! So close to 20 years ago, I booked my first appointment for laser hair removal.
I was pretty nervous about how long would it take? How much would it hurt? So…I decided to start with my underarms. I thought surely a small area like that couldn’t hurt that badly. I was wrong! After doing one armpit, I seriously considered leaving with just one done. Even though it would take multiple sessions to get rid of the hair, I never went back for another session. It hurt that bad.
Fast forward 2 decades. With the right technology and the right medspa, laser hair removal can be not only a positive experience but one of the best things I’ve ever done! If you were to ask me one of the best procedures I’ve ever had done, this would be one of them. I cannot begin to tell you how nice it is to not have to shave daily. It saves me so much time and hassle. I wish I would have been to Memphis Laser Clinic to have it done sooner! Now that I’ve told you how I feel about laser hair removal, I’m going to talk all about the process.
What is Laser Hair Removal?
Laser hair removal reduces hair by using a laser light beam to target individual hair follicles. It damages them to inhibit future hair growth without damaging the surrounding skin. Since not all of your hair follicles develop at the same time, multiple sessions are scheduled 4-6 weeks apart to ensure all of the hair follicles are treated, and each session takes anywhere from 30 to 120 minutes depending on the size of the area being treated.
Memphis Laser Clinic
Memphis Laser Clinic uses the latest, most powerful hair removal system in the country – the GentleMax Pro Laser. There is no other hair removal system like it, and it’s easily considered the gold standard for the removal of hair. Trust me, I had it done elsewhere decades ago with a different laser, and it just doesn’t come anywhere close to this laser!
The cooling system on this laser is as advanced as it gets. It combines the (ACC) Air Cooling Compatible hand piece and the integrated and patented (DCD) Dynamic Cooling Device that bursts cryogen both before and after the laser pulses. This is as good as gets in terms of comfort and nearly pain free hair removal. Right after the laser is used, you immediately feel a cool blast of air. It makes SUCH a difference with laser hair removal!
Where to Get Laser Hair Removal
You can do your face (including upper lip, chin and cheeks), chest, back, abdomen, underarms, legs, bikini line, Brazilian and the buttocks areas. I started going to Memphis Laser Clinic back in January for my first treatment session, and I have been doing my legs, Brazilian, underarms and sideburns. I have had 6 sessions done on my underarms and Brazilian, and 4 for my legs and sideburns.
I am completely done with my underarms, and no hair grows there anymore. After just my first session, I immediately noticed less hair, slower hair growth and thinner hair. The underarms only take about 10 minutes or so total, and it honestly has been pretty painless this time! What a difference! It has been so nice (especially in the summer), not having to shave my underarms for bikini season. I just get ready and go!
Since my hair is dark and thicker in other areas, I still have probably 2-3 more sessions to go for my other treatment areas. Each time though, the hair gets thinner, lighter and more sparse. I already only shave my legs once a week now, and I used to have to shave every day. I cannot wait until the last session of my legs. Think of how much time that will save not having to shave my legs everyday.
My sideburns, underarms and bikini area have been pretty painless. I can easily work on my phone during the sessions, and it doesn’t bother me at all. I just feel a little warm slight prick feeling and then a cool blast. It goes by pretty quickly. The legs hurt just slightly more. But in no way would I call it intolerable. I mean, I’ve already have over half of my sessions done. It is very bearable. There is just a lot more coverage area when it comes to legs, and some bony areas with ankles and shins.
My leg appointments are an hour, and the other areas are usually done in about 30 minutes or so total for all of them combined. It’s a small investment of both money and time for the results you receive. So would I recommend laser hair removal?? Absolutely! I 100% wish I would have done it sooner. It has been such a life changer and a time saver for me, and I love not having to mess with shaving anymore. If you have any more questions for me about Laser hair removal, just drop them below.
