How to Throw a Spooktacular Halloween Party

A few weeks ago, we threw a Halloween party! We hadn’t had one in 4 years, so it was long overdue! We got dressed up in costume as pirates, and we decorated the house along with my sister and her husband’s help. It was such a blast! It was so much fun getting the house all decorated and then partying with friends for the night. I decided to do a little bit spookier decor this year, so I did a little shopping and added this big skeleton to the family lol. 100% worth every penny lol. When throwing a party, the first thing I pick is date, location, theme and then I start picking out decor and food. We knew we wanted this one to be spooky vibes, and from there we picked out our costumes and the food.

We don’t typically decorate outdoors for Halloween, but this year we added a few things like these giant spiders and these fun skeleton bones. I still want to add some more skeletons and some headstones, but it’s definitely a good start for now. The kids love it all too! The great thing about the giant skeleton, Skelly, is that he can go indoors or outdoors.

I had so much fun setting up a spooky tablescape for Halloween and used some of my favorite pieces that I use every year. I put out my favorite chargers, plates and spiders, and then I added black velvet ribbon onto the glasses and a big cauldron that I found. We made a cranberry vodka red punch that we put in the bowl. It was perfectly spooky for the party. For the food, I kept it simple, but it looked so cool. I rolled out the butcher block paper on the island, and we made a massive charcuterie right there. We added creepy candies, chocolates, meats, cheeses, dips and chips. We also added a few fun (fake) body parts onto the butcher paper, because after all, it was butcher paper. = )

I usually like to make a signature drink anytime we have an event, and this one was no different. We used our favorite spirits (pun intended) from Old Dominick, and the punch was such a hit! And serving it out of a cauldron? Yes please! We ran out of time, but you can easily freeze blueberries in circular small molds and use them as eyeballs in the punch too. We will definitely have to do that next time.

We added these super cute blue pumpkins to the mantle along with our usual bats and pumpkins we picked up at the pumpkin patch. We also found these fun bone candles that melt red like blood. They were such a fun little spooky detail to add! I love that the mantle is spooky but still cute. = ) And the kids think it’s fun too.

This year I also added this glass vase with ghost candles, and I’m lowkey obsessed with it! It is so cute and looks great as the center of a tablescape, in your bathroom, or even in your cubbies in the entryway. I think all the decor turned out perfectly, and it was such a fun night! We had good food, even better friends, and a night of frightful fun. What else could you want?? Will you be throwing a Halloween party this year??
