All about the Baby, All the Time

With a newborn at home, a baby monitor was an absolute must have on my baby list.  Leighton is now 2 weeks old, and she hasn’t slept in her crib yet, but we hope to transition to it soon.  Right now she is still sleeping in our room since she is up every couple hours or so.  We originally thought that we wouldn’t use a baby monitor until she was sleeping in her crib (on the complete opposite side of the house from our room), but it turns out that it has come in handy for so much more than that.  I never imagined that just shaving my legs would become a luxury, but with a crying newborn baby at home, I have already used the monitor about 5 times over the last week since we’ve been home from the hospital.  It has been so handy to use in my bathroom so that I’m able to take a shower.  She was napping in the living room in her Rock N Play, and I didn’t want to risk waking her up by moving her into the bedroom or bathroom.
I set up the Motorola MBP36S camera in the living room angled at her, and then I just plugged in the monitor and set it up in the bathroom so I could see her while in the shower.  I thought it would be really difficult and complex to use, but it ended up being so simple.  All I had to do was plug in the camera, plug in the monitor and then just hit the on button on the camera and the monitor.  I was able to pan and tilt the camera from the bathroom on the monitor and even adjust the volume remotely from there too.  I couldn’t believe how great the technology was.  I thought I would have to adjust the camera instead of being able to control it from the monitor in the other room.  It let me rest a little easier knowing that Leighton was safe and sound in the next room, and I was actually able to shave both legs.  = )  It’s the little things.  I’ve definitely learned that it is all about the baby, all the time.  She is attached to me at the hip right now, and I’ve loving every minute of it!  I know we will be using it even more in the coming months when she starts sleeping in her own room too.  It even has lullabies on it!  And it has infrared night vision, so we can peek in and watch her in the middle of the night.  Shane will love this!  He is constantly asking “is she okay, is she okay?” all night long, and she literally sleeps right beside our bed.  So I can only imagine how much he will want to use it at night when she’s in another room.  For now, it is so convenient to use while she is napping, and it really gives me peace of mind.  It is definitely a must have item for the moms out there.  To learn more about this Motorola baby monitor and purchase it at BuyBuyBaby, click here.
