Back to School Clothing Picks for Tweens

Leighton and I started out back to school shopping last week, and though I sometimes just order online to make it quicker and easier, I decided for us to have a fun girls’ day shopping trip this time! I’m glad I did because it ended up being such a fun day together! We grabbed coffee for me and a croissant for her first, then we shopped at 3 different stores together, and then we grabbed lunch together. It was a lot of fun, and the bonding time was so special.

Another plus is that Leighton got to actually try stuff on to see how it looked, and I got to see how it fit. With everything moving digitally, it was nice to go in person together and spend spend some quality time together. Shopping for tweens these days can be tough! They are starting to grow up much sooner than we ever did, so they are wanting outfits that don’t have all the bows and ruffles like they just recently did last year. I know, cue the tears! Leighton wants to finally pick out all her outfits by herself, and I let her. I just make sure they follow school guidelines, they fit and she does have to pick out some outfits that aren’t atheltic. = )

We also usually grab several little pullovers and cardigans that she can wear over some of her pieces because I feel like most everything is spaghetti straps or you can’t wear a bra with (unless it’s a t-shirt lol!) It’s usually a little bit chilly in the school, so the cardigans and pullovers come in handy then too. = ). She can also start to wear all these items right now in the summer too and probably on into October until it starts to get cooler. Several of them would be cute paired with a denim jacket too. Which pieces are your favorite? What are your tweens favorite stores?
