It’s that time of year where it’s in the 50’s in the morning and the 80’s in the afternoon, and I love it! It will keep getting cooler, but that doesn’t mean you still can’t get outdoors with the kids and get active! There are several fun fall and winter activities that are perfect to do this time of year with the whole family! Check out my list of favorites below!
.) Building a snow fort – We usually get a good snow in January, but with a few more trips to the mountains coming up, we are looking forward to hopefully getting a little snow early this year while on vacay. That would be the perfect time to build a snow fort together!
.) Hiking – We recently went hiking in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. The kids love hiking, and there is no shortage of it in the Smoky Mountains!
.) Corn maze – It’s Halloween season, and that means you can easily go visit several corn mazes. Let the kids run free and have some fun, all while being active outdoors together!
.) Sledding – Another favorite during snow days! We are really keeping our fingers crossed for some snow days soon!
.) Turkey trot – With Thanksgiving coming up, many places offer a Turkey Trot race outdoors. This is the perfect way to get active with your kids while raising money for a great cause!
.) Ice skating – We are going ice skating with the kids next month and can’t wait! Last year we took them all ice skating at Gaylord Opryland, and it is a favorite of the kids’ in winter!
.) Fall scavenger hunt – We always love doing this at home or while traveling on vacation. The kids love being outdoors, and this is a great way to explore nature while being active.
.) Outdoor obstacle course – You can make this at a park, while traveling or even in your own backyard. This is an easy but fun one. They have to run around the tree, hop in the squares, do the hoola hoop. The possibilities are endless and fun for the kids playing and for the adults creating the course.
.) Ice skating – Leighton hasn’t been in 4 years, but we are so excited to take her back this year! And it will be Amelia’s first time. We can’t wait to see how they do at ski school, but I know they will have so much fun!
If it’s getting chilly where you are, hopefully you can add some of these fun activities in to stay active. Let me know your favorites!
