Why You Should Throw a Galentine’s Day Brunch with Your Girlfriends

There isn’t anything much better than the support and community you get from your girlfriends. They’re there when you need a friend to talk to, when you need someone to get you through the newborn season, when you need a gym buddy, when you need to borrow an outfit. They are your go-to people there are always right there in your life. And they’re usually only a phone call or text away. Though Valentine’s Day is usually about romantic relationships, it is the perfect time to celebrate your bond with your girlfriends and let them know how much you appreciate them.

Being women, it’s rare that we carve out time for ourselves and our girlfriends. I can totally relate. It’s usually time with the kids and time with my husband, but there is rarely time for just my friends anymore. It takes a conscious effort to make sure that I am taking time to nurture my friendships too. After all, friendships are relationships too. And having a Galentine’s Day celebration is a great way to carve out that time to hang out with your girls.

This is a great time to praise the women in your life and build each other up. I don’t know about you, but a lot of days I can feel pretty run down and like I’m at the bottom of the list in my household. Having a group of women who can relate, know who you truly are and what your strengths are can really make you feel valued in a time in your life that can be isolating, lonely and exhausting. Lean on each other and just cherish the day together.

There are so many different ways you can celebrate together. You can throw a brunch like I did, or you can keep it simple and have a movie night, a night out, pizza in, or even exchange gifts. It can definitely be as simple or as extravagant as you want it to be. I wanted to keep it simple and at my house since I love entertaining. I served chicken salad, fruit, cake and had a mimosa bar. It was the perfect way to celebrate the women in my life who really add value to my life. I know God put these women in my life for a reason, and I feel so blessed to call them friends. If that doesn’t deserve a little brunch celebration, I don’t know what does?!

Do you celebrate Galentine’s Day? What is your favorite way to celebrate?
