A couple weeks ago in Jekyll Island we decided to take some family pictures while we were there. We usually try to get them in spring and fall, and with the weather being so nice and the backdrop being so naturally beautiful here, we knew it was the perfect opportunity. We decided to keep it simple and went with the location of Driftwood Beach. I thought it would be unique and something we had never done before. I also thought it would be perfect because the kids could just run around and play the moment we were done snapping a few quick family pics. And it was; they could have played here all day!
After you pick out location, then time of day is super important. Ideally it is best in early morning or late afternoon when the sun isn’t directly overhead and so bright, but we did the best we could. After all this was our vacation and we had decided that getting a few family pics would be quick, easy and super chill. Next I picked out outfits. I found this adorable skirt for Amelia, and it was the basis for all our outfits after that. I thought it would look so cute on her, and I loved the pretty floral print and the color scheme. It is ivory with lavender and navy blue on it. Next Leighton picked out this super cute ivory jumpsuit for herself. I decided to go with lavender and found this stunning lace midi dress here from Janie Rose Boutique. For the guys, we just used basics they had in their closets – a lavender polo shirt for Matt and a navy blue tee for Grayson. And because the beach was our background, we all decided barefoot was best.
To have taken these in 5 minutes flat, I think they turned out pretty well. I especially love the pretty beach background and the pretty color scheme. And more importantly, I love having pictures to treasure of all the kids together. They really melt my heart and are just so cherished. If you haven’t taken spring pictures yet, now is a great time with the weather getting warmer. And they’re perfect for Easter or Mother’s Day coming up. A picture evokes such memories, and I always treasure every single one with the kids. What are some of your best tips for getting family pictures?
