Some people love to coordinate, and some people love to match! I love a little bit of both. If there are more than a few people in the images, I prefer coordinating, but if there are only 3 or less, I think matching can still be fun and done tastefully. We let the boys sit this one out in matching outfits, and the 3 of us wore our pretty Ivy City dresses. The boys were coordinating in denim and white dress shirts with black pullovers on, but Grayson wasn’t in the mood for pictures. He found a little rock pile, and we could not seem to keep him away from it lol! You win some, and you lose some, but I still will cherish these photos of the girls!
We typically stick with the same spot every year for images. It is super close to our house which makes it so convenient with 3 kids and a 3 year old. It has an old fence lining the area, pretty trees, and the lighting is always so pretty at golden hour! When I think about what to wear for family photos, I usually start with the location. It’s definitely fun to mix it up, but in this season with young kids, convenience just wins out for us. = ) It is fun picking the same spot each year though to really compare year after year how much the kids change.
If you’re looking for some great matching outfits for the entire family, I would definitely check out Ivy City because they have so many great collections. I fell in love with these pretty gingham dresses with a full skirt on them. The girls looked so cute in them and loved twirling! They have matching ties for the guys too. = ) These would be great for fall family pictures or even for Christmas cards. It will be here before you know it! Have you had your fall family photos made yet?
