We just had our first official snow day of 2025 a couple weeks ago, and it was such a blast! We had all of our snow gear already from Montana, and we were ready to go with all our winter stuff. It was their first week back at school, and honestly it was the perfect time for a snow day. It’s my slow season at work, and we all were able to really disconnect and just have some fun together all weekend long! If you have a snow day coming up, I’m sharing my favorite things to do!
Make snow cream. It only requires 4 easy ingredients. It is so easy to make, but the kids (and you!) will love it! My favorite recipe is here. I love the addition of sea salt.
Go sledding. We borrowed our neighbor and friend’s sled and had so much fun racing down the hill by the school. This is the sled we used, and it worked great!
Make snow angels. This one is always a favorite!
Ride 4wheelers and side by sides. When there is snow and ice, we always have to pull out the UTVs. We ride in the neighborhood, and it’s always a blast.
Build a snowman and ice fort. Leighton built a snowman, and Grayson started building one. He eventually gave up, and decided he wanted an ice fort instead lol.
Paint in the snow. You can use washable paint or even a colored drink like kool-aid since it would be edible too. They can paint right on the ground or even paint their snowman. Put the mixture in squeezable bottles to make it easier.
Have a snowball fight. This was Amelia’s favorite thing to do in the snow!
Make snow cones. Get your favorite flavors and make homemade snowcones. This one is such a fun one, especially if your kids aren’t big ice cream fans.
Make an outdoor obstacle course. A pile of snow to climb over. A track you carve out of the snow to follow along. Have fun with it!
Drink hot chocolate. This is always the perfect ending to the snow day!
Have you had a snow day yet this year? What’s your favorite thing to do in the sow?
