With Mother’s Day right around the corner, I’m sure all you mom’s out there could add having more time to your wish list! Though I’ve still got about 5 more months until I will finally be a mom, I have some great tips for how I simplify my life.
.) Think of just one small spot in your house that needs to be organized and tackle it. I had quite a few areas, but breaking it down to just the top shelves in one of our closets helped to where we didn’t feel overwhelmed and spend the entire day organizing everything we could think of. Take it area by area.
.) Learn to say no. I am a busy body and can absolutely never sit still, but I am slowly learning how to. That also means learning to say no sometimes. The older I get, the more I realize that my time is much more valuable than money to me, so sometimes you have to say no. What is the point of saying yes to everyone, overcommitting yourself and then regretting it. If you’re not going to have fun doing something, then what’s the point?
.) Automate thing that you can such as setting up direct pay for your monthly bills. Little things like this take time, and that time adds up.
.) Declutter your house. See those 4 pairs of pants that have been hanging at the back of your closet and haven’t been worn in at least a year, do you ever plan on wearing them again? No, then get rid of them. I recommend eBay, Poshmark or even Goodwill. If you don’t use things, why hold onto them?
.) Make a calendar for all members of your household to see. We have ours hanging in the laundry room. It has all of our family functions on it and even our ultrasound appointments so Shane won’t forget each month. = )
.) Hit the great outdoors for some fresh air. Simplifying your life means relaxing, taking time for yourself and cutting down on stress and time wasting activities. This is one of those activities you don’t want to skimp on. Go for a run or even a walk and take your favorite music with you. It is still my favorite me time activity.
.) Check out Coupons.com to save you both time and money. It is a great source for deals and coupon codes, and while you’re there, make sure you take their Superhero Mom quiz and enter their Mother’s Day giveaway
