Weekend Picnic – 5 Backyard Activities to Do with Your Toddler

This post is sponsored by buybuy BABY, but all opinions are 100% my own.

I don’t know where the time went, but we have been living in our new home for almost a year now.  I feel like it honestly takes years before you really get settled in though.  I recently looked around our nice sized backyard and noticed it was pretty empty.  I want Leighton to have a lot of grass to run around in, but I also want her to have lots of toys and other fun things to play on and with outside.  Shane bought me a picnic table for my first Mother’s Day last year, and every since then I’ve been dying to get Leighton her own mini picnic table too.  I’ve partnered with buybuy BABY as a member of their babyhood today.  Babyhood is a curated community of influencers documenting the best, messiest and precious moments in the journey that is motherhood.  Babyhood is such a magical time in a family’s life as they welcome their baby and navigate the transitions of life as a family.  I’m excited to share our new outdoor area and to share some of our favorite things to do outside this summer!
1.)  Have a picnic right there in your own yard.  If you don’t have an adorable picnic table like this one, just put down a mat, blanket or some chairs.  Pack a lunch or snack and some drinks.  Bring music or even games.  Your toddler (and you!) will love the change of scenery.
2.)  Finger paint on an easel or use sidewalk chalk on the patio or sidewalk.  We do this often on the back porch, and she loves it!
3.)  Get a water table to have a little fun in the sun outdoors.  Don’t have a splash park, pool or beach near you?  Don’t worry.  These water tables are perfect, and some of them even have the option to put sand or rocks in the other sections.  They’re great for sensory exploration too.
4.)  Get a basketball goal for outdoors.  Our friends have this one, and Leighton loves to play with it when she’s over there.  Not into basketball?  They have lots of other sports like t-ball and golf that would be perfect for your little one to play with.
5.)  Get a bubble bucket.  I bought one of these for Leighton for Easter, and she loves it.  It is fairly spill proof, and the best thing is that it has a handle so that your toddler can tote it around (like a purse) and blow bubbles without spilling it everywhere.
Make sure you stop by buybuy BABY for all things baby.  They have THE best selection of everything you could ever want or need for your little one.  What fun activities will you be doing this summer?
