How to eat healthy at home with HelloFresh
Happy Thursday and thanks for stopping by day 2 of the Paleo Challenge with me, My Life Well Loved and Happily Hughes.  Today I want to talk about something that is SO hard for us, and I’m sure many of you can relate: how to eat healthy.  And the hardest part of that is eating healthy at home while still making the meal exciting while still on a budget.  All while chasing after your toddler.  Those phrases usually don’t go together, do they?  I have been hearing so many great things about food delivery services, I finally had to check it out myself because 1.)  I don’t have much free time.  2.)  I’m a horrible cook.  3.)  I don’t have much time.  = )

HelloFresh is a food delivery service where fresh ingredients are delivered to your door weekly to cook a variety of different meals selected by you depending on your food choices, your household size, your schedule and your budget.  There are 3 different meal plans: classic, family and veggie.  For 3 meals a week for 2 different people on the classic plan, the cost is $59.94.  That is $9.99 per meal per person.  Make sure you use the coupon code HIGHHEELS35 to receive $35 off your first box!  That will make it just $4.15 a meal per person.  It is definitely worth it in my opinion!  When eating healthy, it definitely isn’t cheap, but you get what you pay for.  We already pay around $5-$10 per meal at our house because we buy so much fresh meat and produce to cook with.  So for us, using HelloFresh was really a no brainer.  It completely took the guesswork out of what to cook.  There is a new list of recipes each week, so it was fun choosing what 3 meals sounded the best each week.  And there was so much variety, we didn’t get tired of any of them.
One of my favorite things about HelloFresh besides how fast, easy and convenient it was, was that it made it so easy to include the entire family.  The entire meal was ready in 30 minutes, and it actually kept Leighton’s attention for about half of that time for her to help me cook.  Then off to watch Dora it was!  With HelloFresh, you have the option of receiving 3, 4 or even 5 meals a week for 2 or 4 people.  The portion sizes were really big, so we opted for the 3 meals a week plan for 2 people, and there was MORE than  enough food for all of us!  I’m pretty sure Shane couldn’t believe that I actually cooked this meal myself.  I am seriously the worst cook y’all.  But that’s the great thing about HelloFresh. It’s perfect for everyone whether you are a great cook or still a 10 year beginner like me (it takes me a while to get domesticated haha!)
While HelloFresh doesn’t have any paleo meal plans yet, it was so easy to tailor most of the meals for a paleo diet.  For this meal, it involved steak, gravy, kale and potatoes.  I ate the steak and kale, and Shane ate all the rest.  I was still plenty full, and with a meal this yummy, I definitely didn’t feel like I had to sacrifice.  I’m so excited to be giving away a 3 meal subscription box to one lucky reader today!  To enter, just use the rafflecopter widget at the bottom of this post and good luck!  P.S.  Make sure you use code HIGHHEELS35 to receive $35 off your first box from HelloFresh!  What is the hardest part of eating healthy for you?  Have you tried HelloFresh?

  1. I have a two year old and a newborn, so the hardest part for me is both planning out meals and taking them both to the store to get groceries to make the meals. I love that this service would cut down on trips to the store.

  2. I've been thinking lately that I wanted to try out a service like this. With a toddler and a newborn meals are the hardest thing to get done. I would love the opportunity to try it out. It really sounds like something I need.

  3. We eat everything here. From time to time, some junkie food just for fun, burger and pizza. But in the day to day we have homemade food. My maid cooks very well, and I always prepare the menus for the week. I also cook well and my husband is a true chef in our kitchen. Our menu is well balanced with vegetables and vegetables (lettuce, tomato, arugula, watercress, potatoes, radicci, kale, mustard, cucumber, carrot, sweet potato), fruits, rice, beans, pasta and meat. We eat meat every day, except on Fridays, when we eat fish or shrimp or seafood. Bovine, sheep or chicken meat are always present (a little bit paleo LOL), because we live in Rio Grande do Sul, a major producer of angus and hereford cattle (a cowboy state, absolutely rural, here in Brazil, such as Texas or The South of the United States). I really appreciate your post!

  4. The hardest part about eating healthy at home is finding the time – time to shop for ingredients, time to find recipes, time to prepare and cook. HelloFresh could help by taking the shopping and planning out of the equation and making it easier to eat healthy.

  5. The hardest part for me is shopping. I really dislike grocery shopping, so I rarely feel motivated to get what I need to put meals like this together. Cooking is super-fun for me though, so this service would work well for us!

Thanks for the chance to win!

  6. I've heard really awesome reviews about Hello Fresh, and always wanted to try it out. My only concern is that I have a list of food allergies a mile long, and I'm worried that they wouldn't cater to that challenge. However, my boyfriend would probably love it!

  7. I love cooking for our family and preparing healthy meals. Right now, Hello fresh could really help me come up with a fun meal plan with new recipes and by getting all of the ingredients to me. Making a list and shopping is my biggest headache!

  8. Hello Fresh would help me prepare a healthy meal when I am tired and out of ideas after a tough day at work. I also like the thought of learning new ways to cook with different foods that I may not normally try.

  9. Love the pics of you and your daughter prepping the meal together! Hardest part is not putting cheese on the dish unnecessarily when at home, plus prepping all meal ingredients.

  10. The hardest part is deciding what to eat each night! Hello Fresh would totally hel with that by having everything ready to roll for me!

  11. I stick to a vegetarian diet but no one else in my house does so we cook multiple meals each night or alter the main dish to be meat free. I'd love some new ideas to make that easier every day!

  12. My problem is organizing and making a plan. We generally have busy week nights and I'm terrible about planning ahead. Then we usually end up eating take-out or i throw something together quickly, and it's not always very appetizing.

  13. Delicious ingredients you'll love to eat.
Simple recipes you'll live to cook. A great quote from them…so much convenience using their services in the busy life of a family this is one less thing you have to worry about everyday you know what your cooking and have everything needed to prepare this dish..

  14. I would have all the ingredients I need. I don't drive so if I go to cook and don't have something I'm out of luck. This would make it convenient for me to prepare the meal because I would have everything I need.

  15. I would say the hardest part about eating healthy at home is buying the food. Most healthy food is so expensive and then part of it goes to waste before I can use it all up. Hello fresh would help me not to waste any food!
