Last year was a decent year of reading for me. I finally got back into and really made time to catch up on book list. I crossed off more books last year than I had in a while. It’s definitely getting easier as Grayson is getting a little older. = ) I am sharing my top favorite 18, and I would love to hear some of your favorite books from last year too! Let me know!
The Exception to the Rule – One typo, and a boy and girl connect by chance. Wishing each other a happy Valentine’s Day isn’t the end. In fact, it becomes a friendly annual tradition in this cute romantic short story.
The Gap and the Gain – The high achievers’ guide to happiness, confidence, and success. An absolute must read!
Worst Wingman Ever – An amusing mistake soon turns into a lovely exchange of anonymous notes, little acts of kindness, and a growing affection between two strangers. This is another really cute romantic short story.
The Locked Door – Nora Davis, a successful surgeon, discovers one of her young female patients has been murdered in the same unique and horrific manner that her father used to kill his victims. She must protect her father’s secret and her own reputation.
Fourth Wing Series – A young woman enters a war college for dragon riders, where she must navigate a dangerous world, face ruthless competitors, and uncover a terrible secret while trying to survive and succeed in a world of dragons and intrigue.
The Perfect Marriage – Sarah Morgan, a criminal defense attorney, defends her husband accused of murdering his mistress in a twisty, addictive thriller with shocking revelations.
None of This is True – A popular podcaster meets a mysterious woman on her birthday, who later becomes the subject of her own true crime podcast. This one was such a unique read and one of my favorites!
The Housemaid is Watching – A woman, Millie, moves her family to a new neighborhood, but soon suspects that her neighbors are hiding dark secrets. Loved this psychological thriller!
Rock Paper Scissors – A couple wins a weekend trip to Scotland, but one of them is lying and someone doesn’t want them to live happily ever after. Another exciting thriller with an ending you don’t see coming!
The Anxious Generation – This book delves into the collapse of youth mental health in the era of smartphones, social media, and big tech—and a plan for a healthier, freer childhood. Highly recommended for parents, but honestly I think it is great for most everyone!
The Obesity Code – Challenging conventional dieting wisdom, this book presents intermittent fasting as a scientifically-backed approach to sustainable weight loss by managing insulin levels. This book was hands down my favorite last year. It was a game changer, learning about insulin resistance, weight gain and hormones. So so insightful.
Shine – Looking inward is the key to unlocking true entrepreneurial freedom. Such an incredible book about finding your true self and inner peace.
Where the Crawdads Sing – A young woman, Kya or the “Marsh girl”, living in the marshes of North Carolina is accused of murder. And yes, of course it is better than the movie.
The Kind Worth Killing – A chance encounter on a flight leads to a twisted plot to commit the perfect murder, but dark secrets threaten to unravel their deadly game. Loved this book so much! It will keep you interested the entire time!
The Kind Worth Saving – The second book in this series, and it’s almost as good as the first! A private eye starts to follow a possibly adulterous husband, but little does he know that the twisted trail will lead back to the woman who hired him.
In Five Years – A woman, Dannie, glimpses her life five years in the future, altering her carefully planned path in unexpected, unforgettable ways. This book was so intriguing. Really loved such a unique storyline and couldn’t put it down!
The Summer Pact – Written by one of my favorite authors, Emily Giffin, this book follows four college friends make a pact to always be there for each other. Ten years later they reunite for a life-changing adventure of self-discovery, forgiveness, and acceptance.
The Let Them Theory – This was my favorite non-fiction book of last year. It is a must read and will change your life. This book is about how to stop wasting energy on things you can’t control and start focusing on what truly matters: YOU.
Have you read any of these books? Which is your favorite? What was YOUR favorite book you read last year? What’s on your list for this year?
