A few weeks ago, Matt and I drove to Death Valley National Park in California. It was such a cool experience! It was definitely like no other place! It was 124 degrees in Death Valley, and at first it honestly didn’t feel that bad out. It felt hot, but it wasn’t muggy or humid. But then…after hiking around for a mile, guess what?! Yep, you guessed it. It felt SO hot! I get it; I get it! It was beyond crazy hot, especially at our first stop of the day. If you’ve been debating on going to Death Valley. Do it! You won’t regret it! And then read my post below for the stops there you have to check out.
Badwater Basin – This was our first stop in Death Valley. It is white as far as you can see. It is all sand up to where the blue sky hits the sand. It is so pretty…and hot! The sun reflects off the white sand and makes it feels even hotter. My zipper on my pullover was hot to the touch, and so was my metal Owala water bottle. We walked a mile out and then had to walk the mile back, and I honestly wish we would not have walked so far out. It was a rough walk, and it was flat as can be! Still, I would do it all again. It was so neat to see! We were so low below sea level that water was bubbling up through the ground in some spots, and the salt felt so crunchy and dry from the heat. It was crazy.

Artists Palette – This was my favorite spot. First of all, the watercolored rocks were just beautiful. But they were also so much fun to hike. This is a great spot for hiking, for photos and to see pretty views. It was a really pretty sight to see.

Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes – This was another really cool spot. There were sand dunes as far as you could see. It was the typical desert that you think of when you see them in the movies. They looked like they were perfectly shaped and untouched. It was so fun to see and to walk around in. I forgot how tough it is to walk on sand in shoes though lol!

Father Crowley Vista Point – This spot was named after a Catholic priest who would stop here to admire views. You can see beautiful views of Rainbow Canyon here. It was a really windy but peaceful spot.

It’s really neat how unique each spot in Death Valley is. It all seems like it is just a part of another world. And it truly makes you appreciate God’s artistry. This national park is definitely worth visiting. If you get a chance, stay. in Death Valley National Park. One of our favorite nights was going to bed and waking up in a national park. Such a cool experience! If you’ve been before, let me know your favorite sight you saw here.
