15 Mom & Son Day Date Ideas That Boys Will Love

Now that the older kids are back in school, its the perfect time to spend a little one on one time with the littles. = ) Grayson loves going to pre-k, but anytime he gets a chance, he asks if he can spend the day with me. And I usually try to do that at least once a month. It’s a great way to bond with him, and it’s really a great way for us to have some one on one time. It can be hard with 3 kids because they are all sharing my time. Usually most of my attention go to the older kids because of school work and sports, but it’s nice to have days where I can take off and spend a little special time with Gray to really foster that connection we have.= )

I love spending the day with him, and he definitely has his list of favorite things to do and favorite places to go to. I love keeping a list on hand and letting him choose sometimes too. If you’re looking for more ways to spend some time with your young son, I’m sharing 15 of my favorites below that I think any young kid would love. Whether you’re local in Memphis or not, check them out below as they will work no matter where you’re based.

1.) Play minature golf – Putt Putt is a Memphis tradition, and it is a favorite of our entire family.

2.) Play arcade games – Nerd Alert is a super cool store with vintage style arcade games. So much fun for you and the kids!

3.) Go bowling – 901 Bowl is our favorite bowling alley in the area. We went twice this summer, and the kids love the bowling and the arcade games in the back.

4.) Go swimming – LifeTime Fitness pool is one of our favorite go-tos. Grayson loves to be in the water, and it’s a great place and time for him to practice swimming and get more comfortable in the water at the same time.

5. Play with Legos – Bricks & Minifigs is a new favorite store for Grayson. He cannot get enough of the Legos there! You can play with some in store and also purchase what you like to take home. Such a cool store!

6.) Play with slime – Slimetastic Kids Play Lab is a newer store in the area, and the kids all love it! Grayson finally went last week, and he loved creating his own special slime and also playing in the slime tanks.

7.) Ride bikes at the park – Hinton Park is our favorite park in the area, and since they added on this summer, we can’t help but love it even more. They have paths for riding bikes, sand, slides, a huge new play set, a pond with bridge, frisbee golf and more!

8.) Go hiking together – Shelby Farms Park is another favorite in the area, and I love how many shaded trails they have. Perfect for a hike together. And pack your picnic with you.

9.) Get ice cream – Levee Creamery is our favorite ice cream spot in Collierville. And next to it is a kid’s toy and clothing boutique, Cotton Candy Kidz. And Duck Donuts is on the other side too if son is more of a donut fan than an ice cream fan.

10.) Go to the movies – Malco is our favorite theater in the area, and we love going to see movies together. They have reclining seats with cup holders and lots of good food and snack options. You can also pick your seats out in advance.

11.) See the animals at the z00 – Memphis Zoo is always a favorite of ours, year-round!

12.) Visit a museum together – Children’s Museum of Memphis and the Fire Museum of Memphis are a couple of our favorite museums in the area. We are so lucky that Memphis has so many great museums. It’s not only educational, but it’s fun too.

13.) Play boardgames and eat treats – Vampire Penguin has such great treat and tons of board games too. Grab something yummy and sit at the table and play games together for the afternoon.

14.) Go to a play place – Jumpin’ Jellybeans is Grayson’s favorite in the area. He’s almost 5, and he has been going here since he was 1. Still a favorite with so much fun things to do up to about age 10.

15.) Go to a sporting event together – We took the kids several times to see a Memphis Redbirds game, and they all had a blast. I d0n’t think this is anything they will ever outgrow. They still have games all through September so get some tickets soon.

Have you been to any of these? Do you love to do day dates with your little ones too? What are their favorite things to do?
