I can easily say that I truly love my home office. It is the smallest bedroom in our house, but we definitely did a good job of making every inch of space count. When we built this house, I immediately knew I wanted this room to be my home office. It was the smallest room, so I didn’t feel like I was taking a larger room away from the kids. And it’s the only room on the South side of the house. It is quiet and the perfect spot to work.

A couple years ago, I decided to expand my office and make it a guest bedroom too. It’s been great to have this extra added space for guests, but I don’t really feel like it cuts into my office space. I originally had my desk in the middle of the room, and it felt like there was a lot of space. After deciding to make this a guest bedroom too, I immediately knew I wanted to add a murphy bed. It is a great way to make the room multi-purpose without taking up unnecessary space. As my blog home office space though, I also needed lots of storage space for product, clothing and mirror space. That is where this bed really came in handy. I found a bed that came with a huge full-length mirror on the front and then side cabinets I could add alongside the bed. It was perfect for all the storage space I needed!

And then for my desk, I decided to use the unused space in the recessed entry corner of this room that was previously wasted. This was the perfect spot to add a built-in desk. It didn’t take up any extra space, and if anything, it took up unused space. All of this makes the room actually feel larger, and it makes the room so practical. I am so happy with how my office space turned out. If you have a small room in your house, this is a great idea to make your room feel much larger. Utilize unused space, and remember built-ins can be your best friend.

What do you think about my home office? Do you have an office at home? Where do you have your desk? Is it a multi-purpose room?
