Fall Colors, Summer Temperatures

This time of year always makes getting dressed a little tricky. I am ready for fall outfits, but Memphis temperatures are still very much saying summer. Instead of pulling out sweaters and boots too early, I am bringing fall into my wardrobe through color while sticking with lightweight pieces that work for the heat. This orange, coral and golden-yellow plaid set from Avara is perfect for that in-between season. The sleeveless cropped top and flowy tiered maxi skirt keep the outfit cool and comfortable, but the warm color palette is ready for fall. I love that the matching pieces make a statement together, but I can also wear the top with high-waisted jeans or pair the skirt with a simple tank for even more outfit options.

I styled the set with neutral platform sandals to keep the look light and summery. Once the temperatures finally start dropping, I can transition it with a denim jacket and ankle boots. It is an easy way to start dressing for the next season without ignoring the weather we actually have right now. If you live somewhere that stays warm well into September, focus on autumn-inspired shades like rust, burgundy, olive, chocolate brown, mustard and deep orange. Lightweight dresses, matching sets and sleeveless tops in these colors give you the look of fall without all the layers.

Are you already dressing for fall, or are summer temperatures still deciding your outfits?
