Date nights do not happen as often as they used to, so when Matt and I get one, I love having a reason to put on a fun dress and make the most of it. Even if we are just going to dinner or meeting friends, getting dressed up makes the night a little more special and helps us step away from the normal routines at home. It is always nice to slow down, spend time together and enjoy a night that is just for us. We ate at Coastal Fish Company, one of our favorite spots, because of the view and the patio.
A Polka Dot Mini Dress for Date Night
This black and white polka dot mini dress was such a fun Rent the Runway find. Polka dots are always classic, but the shorter length and full skirt give this dress a playful look that is perfect for date night. It is feminine, flattering and a little different from the dresses already hanging in my closet. I also love that the print makes enough of a statement that the dress does not need many accessories. I have worn it three times in the last couple weeks, so for a $10 rental, I definitely feel like I got my money’s worth!
I paired it with these gold platform sandals to add some height and dress it up a little more. They’re old, but from Dillard’s. Metallic shoes work with almost everything, and these complemented the black and white print without competing with it. This look is perfect for a dinner date, a concert, a couple’s night, girls’ night or even a summer event.
Why I Love Rent the Runway
Rent the Runway is one of my favorite options for date nights, trips and special occasions because it gives me an opportunity to try something different without buying another dress. I can choose a fun style that I might not normally purchase, wear it for the occasion and then exchange it for a new look. It also keeps dresses from sitting in my closet after being worn only once or twice. I also love saving my favorites and re-renting them again down the road. You can also buy the outfit for a fraction of the cost! I have done that with another dress and some denim.
This polka dot mini is exactly the type of dress I love renting because it is memorable while still being easy to wear. I styled it with platforms for date night, but it could also be worn with flat sandals for a more casual evening. I even wore it the last two weekends with cowboy boots. As the weather starts to cool down, I would add a light jacket and ankle boots to wear it into the next season. What’s your favorite go-to date night look?
