Brighton Centennial 5K + Ruffles with Love Tank Top Giveaway!!

Saturday my alarm went off at 5:30am, and all I wanted to do was roll over and go back to sleep.  I couldn’t though because I had signed up for the Brighton Centennial 5K, which is almost an hour from my house.  The race was at 7:15am.  I had already promised my mom I would run it with her, and Shane was smart enough not to make any promises, so he rolled back over and went to bed.  I got up and headed out to the country.  Brighton is my hometown.  I was born and lived there my entire life until college when I moved to Memphis.  My husband Shane is from the same small town also.  My uncle is the mayor of Brighton, so I really wanted to run the 5K and show my support for my family and hometown since this was Brighton’s first 5K.  I sleptwalked out of of my car to the start line at 7:10.  The race actually went right by my old house where I grew up, so that was kind of neat.  Mile 2 was tough and pretty hilly.  The weather felt great though.  I think I finished around 31, and the distance ended up being a little longer than a 5K.  My time was about 5 minutes slower than my normal time, but considering my last run was 3.5 months ago, I expected it to be around there.  I also realized this was my first 5K to run in my new age bracket – 30 to 39.
My race season has started back up, and I am planning to do quite a few in October and November including the Fast & Furriest (dogs are welcome!), Race for the Cure and the True Blue 5K.  In December, I am doing my first ever marathon – the St. Jude Marathon.  The marathon starts downtown just right down the road from my house, and it has been something I’ve wanted to do for years.  I cannot even imagine how emotional yet rewarding it must feel to run by the hospital knowing that thousands of people are all outside running for them.  Let the training begin!
On Saturday,I wore my new Running, Cheaper Than Plastic Surgery tank top from Ruffles with Love.  Almost every running tank top I have is from there.  I love the fit of them, and I love that you can customize the tank top to say anything you want.  You can also choose from a variety of colors for the tank top and the bow.  I won this tank top from Mel a couple of months ago, and I love how lightweight it is.  Today I’ve teamed up with Ruffles with Love so you can have the chance to win your own tank top as well.  If you want to buy it anyways, you can just contact Vanessa with Ruffles with Love and she will set up a custom order for you.  (For sizing, I had to go up one size on this particular tank top and get a medium.)  To enter just use the rafflecopter widget below, and good luck!
