We love taking short little day or weekend trips from Memphis to the lake, and Hot Springs is one of our absolute favorites to visit for a lake trip. It’s only 3.5 hours away, so it’s the perfect destination for a weekend getaway with your family. It had been a couple years since we had been to Hot Springs, so we were excited to head back there for Labor Day weekend. And I’m so glad that we did! The kids had the best time and have already asked to go back several times!
We stayed at a house on Lake Hamilton. It was located in the cove and was just perfect for us. We had a dock to park the waverunner at, and I love that the kids could swim right there since the cove is a no wake zone. Most all of our family went, and we had a big enough house to fit everyone. We spent our days swimming, riding Big Mabel, riding the waverunner, and we spent our nights watching movies together. It was the perfect blend of outdoor fun and chill, cozy nights.
We definitely plan to go back next year too. The great thing about Hot Springs is that it is so close to Memphis. There is also so much to do in the area even aside from the lake. Hot Springs is home to the first National Park in the US. They have The Hot Springs Mountain Tower you can visit and do some hiking. They also have a great brewery Superior Bathhouse, restaurants and tons of shopping downtown. They also have bathhouses you can visit, Fordyce Bathhouse that you can tour, and you can’t forget Garvan Woodland Gardens. Seriously, you could spend an entire week here, and I love how family friendly and outdoorsy the area is too!
