Mint + Super Bowl Recipe Linkup

Yay, it’s Thursday and one day closer to my Saturday class the weekend!  I don’t know if you’ve heard, but Gap has been having a huge sale ever since after Christmas.  They’re getting limited on sizes, but it’s definitely worth taking a look!  I even ended up finding a pair of nude leather wedges at Gap for $3.50!!  Everything online is 25% off right now.  If you spend $100, you save 30%.  If you spend $125, you save 35%.  Just use the code GAPMORE through 1/11/13.  Since I had to work the day after Christmas, I actually still had a couple gift cards from Gap that I still hadn’t used.  I finally made it over there last week and got a great pair of mint colored jeans for $16.49.  My SIL Lindsey also bought some mint jeans this week too, so I’m definitely thinking we all have blogger ESP now.  = )  I had been wanting a pair of mint jeans for almost a year, but wasn’t sure how much use I would actually get out of them.  I ended up buying the 3 shirts that I styled them with also.  Colored jeans are actually more versatile than you think.  They really can work like a neutral in a lot of ways.  Please disreagard the fact that I had to hold my camera to take these pictures.  I left my phone out in the car (not that that’s any better), and was having separation issues.  For the first look, I colorblocked them with a beautiful coral colored top.  This is definitely my favorite look.  You can colorblock most anything, and the bright colors really complement each other.  Don’t be afraid to wear bright colors year-round.  I try to dress for the temperature and not the season.  Just because it’s cold and drab outside doesn’t mean you have to wear drab colors.  If it’s really cold, just layer your outfit more, or even use colorful accessories such as jewelry, scarfs, coats or shoes.  I used to be known for wearing too much black, but yet I loved bright colors.  I was just too scared to actually wear them.  Why not dress the way you want and the way you feel, right?  For the second outfit, I just styled it with a cute white top with black anchors on it.  I didn’t see it online, so it may have just sold out, but check your local store.  This top would go with most anything, and easily coordinates with the mint colored jeans.  For the last look I paired the jeans with a polka dot chambray shirt.  Speaking of neutrals, chambray is just that – a neutral.  It will go with almost anything so it’s a really great investment piece in your wardrobe.  It could easily be worn year-round too.  Imagine it with rolled up sleeves with some cute yellow shorts and a fedora and sandals in the summer.  All of these pieces could really be worn year-round; you just need to style them correctly to keep warm or cool.  Some of my favorite pairings with mint are coral, yellow, orange, royal blue, emerald, forest, tan and black.  What are some of your favorite colors to pair with mint?

Don’t forget about the giveaway that ends this Saturday!  There are only 2 entries for the nail polish for people who live outside of the Memphis area so far.  Those are some good odds!

Last night Shane and I went to the University of Memphis basketball game.  It ended up being a really good and close game during the second half, but we won by 13.  Woohoo!!  I was in a clothing rut and couldn’t figure out what to wear.  I blame it on the rain though.  Luckily, Terri and Lindsey reminded me “Duh, wear blue!”  Good call!  So I searched around and finally find this royal blue hi low top from Impulse that had gotten hidden in the back of my closet when we moved over the summer.  I love finding “new” clothes in my closet.  It’s the cheapest place to shop.  = )

Now, on to Amy’s Super Bowl Recipe Linkup!  I got this recipe from my mother-in-law who got it from her husband’s family outside of Buffalo, NY.  It is so very yummy, easy to make and doesn’t require many ingredients at all.  Enjoy!!

Buffalo Chicken Dip
INGREDIENTS:
4 Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast Halves.  I usually just boil mine to cook, but youcould grill them or just used canned chicken also.
2 8 oz. Packages of Low Fat Cream Cheese, softened.  Whipped works best.
1 Cup Ranch Dressing.
1 Cup Franks Hot Sauce.
1.5 Cups of Low Fat Shredded Cheddar Cheese.
2 cans (12.5 oz. each)SWANSON® White Premium Chunk ChickenBreast in Water, drained
DIRECTIONS:
HEAT oven to 350°F.  Place cream cheese into deep baking dish.  Stir until smooth.
MIX in salad dressing, Frank’s Hot Sauce and cheese.  Stir in chicken.
BAKE 30 min. or until mixture is heated through.  Stir and serve with chips.  It’s also good garnished with green onions.

I love them and cannot wait to rock them (cos I will!!) 🙂
I also adore that chambray shirt. And love it with the mint jeans.
(I don't have a top picked out yet to go with mine, so I'll keep this one in mind!!)

And I love buffalo chicken dip!! That is a staple at a Super Bowl party! Good pick!!

  2. Ok, well you know my kids are napping so now I can comment even though I've already texted you. I love all 3 of these shirts with the mint jeans. I think I will try to put some of the things we talked about together later this evening. May even take some pics. Your recipe is making me hungry. I love cream cheese anything. Oh, and I looked at the Tigers schedule and there are no Friday games. I'll have to see if Brian can swap a night off.

  3. This is my favorite dip to make and my go to when we go places. So easy! Another thing I've tried is mixing it all together and putting it in a crock pot and it's just as fabulous! 🙂
