i’m so excited for the opportunity to guest post for laura while she’s getting settled back in from Vegas!
i’m terri and i blog over at peace, love & applesauce.
i’m a mama of two littles + one furry bubby and head over heels in love with an officer of the law.
my days are spent working, tanning, yelling, cooking, driving, picking up, straightening up and any little spare time i like to drink + online shop. hey, it’s what i do. follow my shenanigans on instagram @peaceloveterri.
as a fellow memphian born + raised, i wanna talk a little about how most of us are around these parts, most of my peeps anyway.
when someone hears you’re from memphis, there’s two things that are guaranteed to come out of their mouth.
1. have you ever been to graceland? {uhh, no.}
2. how can you live there with all the crime? {it’s what we do.}
well, let me be the first one to tell you, most of memphis is not that way.
yes, we have crime, as do most large cities. but we also have sections of town where that’s more geared towards.
it’s not all ghetto + gunshots like you think.
there’s actually a lot of great to memphis aside from your typically downtown/midtown tourist related findings that you’ve seen online + on tv.
fact is, most of us live in the suburbs.
counties.. shelby county.. within the city of memphis.
germantown, cordova, collierville, bartlett, etc.
and most of us date/marry down home southern county boys.
hunting, fishing, duck calling, lake going, country music, big trucks driving, hay farming, building it themselves kind of guys.
there’s not much better than back woods tennessee.. driving down an old country road.. catching fireflies at sunset on a hay farm, having your guy gut your dinner off the bed of his truck, sometimes even in your own driveway. though i’ve dated my fair share of city guys, this is the life i prefer living in memphis.
dating a country boy is a whole new territory when it comes to fashion.
i know what you’re thinking, redneck duck dynasty… uhhh, no. not this gal.
it doesn’t take a miracle to make camouflage + cowboy boots work for an occasion.
taking this simple + sweet
camo tunic found on Kiki La Rue + pairing it with a denim jacket, flat boots, kendra scott earrings, a monogram necklace and a fabulous tory burch.. you’ve got the perfect country girl look for day or night.
if camo isn’t your thing, i can totally understand that.
but what gal doesn’t love a great pair of cowboy boots??
pairing it with BKE jeans {my fav}, your favorite pair of Ariat boots, diamond studs, pretty watch and a fabulous hip swingin Vera Bradley and you’re alllllll set.
see folks, you can’t stereotype memphis.. i promise it’s not what you think.
now, go get yer shine on!
xoxo.
Boy do I miss Memphis!!!! Born & raised in Memphis but moved to Oregon (the anti-Memphis) about 10 months ago. Never thought I'd miss it this much. So I try to find blogs of people from Memphis. Will be heading to yours to follow.

YAY YAY YAY!! Thanks for letting me guest post.. XOXO.
so cuteee!
Haha! We haven't been to Graceland either. It's on the to-do list, but it's just SO expensive. I mean, c'mon, Graceland Too is only $5 and WAY more fun. 😉 You're right that it's not all gangs and gunshots here, I love this place! 🙂
Oh man, I need that shirt except for it to say duck season!
Just visiting from Style Elixir's link up. Great post. Love the cowboy boots.
