Remixing – 1 Dress 4 Ways

I’ve mentioned it time and time again, but I love rewearing my clothing to maximize the wear I get out of them.  I love looking for different ways to wear the same piece.  I’m sure you’ve noticed some of the same skirts, tops or shoes popping up on the blog over and over.  I want to get a lot of use out of my pieces, but I don’t want to get bored with them.  There are so many different ways to remix pieces though to make them look and feel like a completely new and different outfit.  Not only am I showing you 4 different ways to style this beautiful and versatile plaid dress today, I’ve also made sure that every single piece I’ve listed is under $100!  Some of them are on sale though, so if you’re interested in them, you better get moving.  = )
I picked this plaid dress for a few different reasons.  It is a perfect plaid print for winter, but I don’t think the print is overdone on this dress.  The red color will add some fun to the outfit to keep it from getting boring.  It is in a great shift shape which is flattering on most body types.  Also, the shape and large, unique plaid print makes it pretty easy to dress both up and down.  Let’s start with the glam look.  Pair it with some polka dot tights (on sale!), black booties and a skinny patent belt to make a statement, but still look classy and chic.  I also love the idea of the print mixing with the dots and plaid.  For the date look, I picked some of my favorite items to pair with the dress.  You know I love wearing dresses as tops to get even more wear out of them, so put a pleated midi skirt on over this dress and add some statment blue suede pumps and my favorite Kendra Scott necklace, and you’re all set to go.  For the casual look, I wanted to put together one of my favorite new looks, plaid and a vest!  You can see one I just wore here on Instagram.  I love the dress with the faux fur vest.  To make it even more casual, I love it topped with this hat and these brown booties.  One of my favorite color combos of all time?  Black and brown.  You can even use the same belt to belt the waist, and you could also add tights.  The possibilities really are endless!  For the last look, the work look, I wanted to keep it classy and simple, but still have a little fun with print mixing.  I love the look of the plaid paired with the striped blazer.  It will add some contrast to the look, but the structured shape of the blazer will keep it looking put together.  I also picked some pretty black heels to finish the look, but you could easily wear any pumps, flats or even booties depending on your preference.  If your workplace is more conservative, you might even want to add some plain black tights to this look.  I hope this gave you a little inspiration, and maybe you can even find some of these pieces in your own closet to remix.  Do you like to remix your pieces?  Which look is your favorite?

  1. I have been looking for similar tights to those in the photo. Of course, I clicked on the link and was even more excited to see they were on sale. After reading user reviews I was so sad. They are very sheer and snagged during the first use. Bummer. Any suggestions where I might find something similar but a bit more durable? Thank you.
