Mommy Must-Haves + Baby’s Journey Bath Hammock Giveaway!!

I am slowly but surely learning how picky babies can be.  You spend months getting their room ready and buying so, so many products for them just to find out that some of them don’t work the way you want them to or that baby doesn’t even like them.  These are a few of the most recent products I’ve tried out, and they have definitely become must-haves in our house.  Up first is the Baby’s Journey bath hammock.  I actually have a few different tubs that I have used for Leighton, but now with her getting so long, it is easier to start bathing her in the tub instead of sink.  This bath hammock can only be used in the tub, so at first I was a little hesitant to try it.  I loved the ease of bathing her in the sink so we didn’t have to bend down.  It is SO worth it.  The hammock legs fold open and then you pull the hammock from one side and lock it into the other side.  It is small, lightweight and portable.  It is mesh so it breathes easily and dries quickly.  It has just the perfect amount of an incline, and I love how Leighton doesn’t slide down or from side to side in it.  It also gives us a little more room for her to stretch out so we can more easily get in all those cute little rolls.  You will definitely love this tub, and you’re in luck because I’ve teamed up with Baby’s Journey to give one away.  To enter just use the rafflecopter widget at the bottom of this post.

HALO SleepSack Wearable Blanket c/o

Somehow Leighton’s room has turned out to be the coldest room in the house, so I have been on a mission to find something she could sleep in that would keep her warm but still be safe.  She does not like to be swaddled, even with her arms out.  I recently received the HALO SleepSack, and she absolutely loves it.  It gives her plenty of room to stretch out, but it still keeps her warm, and I don’t have to worry about a blanket getting pulled up over her face.  I went with the size small, and even though she is growing so quickly and is pretty long for her age too, she still has plenty of room to grow into it, which is nice since it seems like she has very quickly outgrown most everything else I’ve bought her.
She has been sleeping in her own room for a couple of months now, and even though we use a monitor, we still constantly worry about her being okay in there.  The SleepSack lets us rest a little easier knowing that she is bundled up, but safely.  She seems to be so comfortable in them that we even let her wear them during the day.  Yes, I’m that parent who lets their baby wear their pjs all day.  = )  I’d rather her be comfortable though.  I am also in love with HALO’s new bassinet.  I don’t have one, but I sure wish I did.  It would have definitely come in handy over the last few months.  For baby number 2, this is an absolute must-have.  You can purchase any of the Halo products at Target, Babies R Us or Amazon.  Make sure you check out HALO on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google+ and YouTube.  “HALO Innovations is dedicated to putting the health, safety and well-being of babies first. In fact, over 1,200 hospitals use our HALO® SleepSack® wearable blankets through the HALO Safer Way to Sleep Initiative. This summer we launched our new bassinet, the HALO™ Bassinest™ Swivel Sleeper, furthering our commitment to helping babies sleep safely.”

I’ve talked about Bumpstyle Box here before.  Well not only do they have a subscription box for preggos, they also have one for nursing moms.  They recently sent me their box, and it had such an amazing variety of products from Seraphine, Belabumbum, Hello Mellow and Lily Padz.  They included some great basics like 2 different bras – a black bamboo nursing bra and the lace nursing bra above.  I ended up purchasing the lace nursing bra, and I absolutely love it.  It is so comfortable and is great to make you feel a little normal after pregnancy instead of a 24 hour milk buffet that wears sweatpants all day.  = )  I honestly would have purchased the bamboo nursing bra too, but it was just a little too big.  I am still debating on buying it in a smaller size.  It was the softest thing I have ever tried on!  They also included a really cute pajama set with a nursing top, a couple basic nursing tanks that are so convenient.  I seriously wear a nursing tank top every single day, so these really do come in handy.  Then they included a gorgeous poncho and blouse and a nursing dress.  The great thing about Bumpstyle Box is that you can look at it for a couple of days, try everything on and then decide what you want.  You just ship back what ever doesn’t work.  I also love that they send stuff other than just clothes such as the Lily Padz and the Boobie Butter.  This was new territory for me, so I had no clue what I needed.  It was nice to have a stylist and expert send me exactly what I would need.  It completely took the guesswork and the time involved with having to go clothes shopping for myself (with a newborn might I add.)  = )
Bellefit Corsets c/o
While pregnant, I heard a lot of good things about Bellefit and their postpartum recovery corsets.  I had never tried any type of corset or girdle before, so I was excited to see how it would help.  When I ordered them back in October, I wasn’t planning to have a c-section, but at that point, you never know.  I was happy that I didn’t have to have a c-section, but I think the corsets are helpful whether you had a natural delivery or a c-section.  I felt so sore (and still pregnant by looking at my stomach in the mirror) after birth.  Bellefit is designed for a large variety of different body types.  I went with the corset styles in a medium and a large.  I started using the large 3 days after delivery once I got home from the hospital.  It fit perfectly.  I felt like it really helped hold everything together and in place.  Two weeks later I was in the size medium corset.  It fit perfectly.  I am very short so I was worried about them being too long, but the hooks are adjustable so you can make it a little longer or shorter.  I lost 38 lbs and was back to my pre-pregnancy weight in 4 weeks.  I was so proud of myself.  It is so hard to go through a pregnancy and delivery and then be expected to just bounce back and take care of a newborn all by yourself while on maternity leave for 6 weeks.  Bellefit definitely helped and made me feel more confident in that transitional phase while trying to get back to my old self (and body!)
Since Leighton was about a month old, Shane has been giving her one pumped bottle each morning so I can catch a few extra zzzzzzzzzs.  It was his idea, and it was honestly the best decision ever.  It gives me a little bit of a break so I can try to get about 7 or 8 hours of sleep each night.  He uses the Dr Browns deluxe bottle warmer every single morning.  When Leighton is hungry, she’s hungry, and the last thing he wants to do is sit around and wait on the frozen bottle to thaw in a cup of warm water.  Imagine Shane half asleep in the morning.  When Leighton wakes up and starts crying, he wants to be able to console her immediately, and that includes feeding her.  It only takes about 4 minutes in the bottle warmer to get the frozen milk to room temperature.  You just put the cap on the bottle, put it in the warmer, press the power button and then set the time and hit start.  It is that simple.  You can heat up different sized bottles, and you can even heat them up straight from the breastmilk storage bottles, so he can pour it into the Dr Browns bottle afterwards.  It really is a lifesaver.  I’m sure most of us moms can agree that if we want want dad to help, we have to make it easy, and the bottle warmer definitely makes it so much quicker.  And of course I appreciate the extra hour of sleep.  = )  What are some of your must-have products as a mom?

  1. Kinley and Kate are due in late March and I am still trying to figure out what all I need and don't need. It is overwhelming! I do have 2 bassinets and I am glad. Hopefully they will make things a little easier in the beginning.

  2. The Fisher Price Rock n Play has been a sleeping lifesaver. We too will be moving our little one to his own crib this week. Any good tips? I think I'm more nervous than he is. Also we would not be able to make it without our boba wrap. Cooking and cleaning while baby wearing is sometimes the only way to make that happen.
