My Daughter, My Hero – Mini Boden Feature & $500 Boden Giveaway!!

There are quite a few definitions to the word hero, and there are so many heroes I’ve come across in my lifetime, but today I want to talk about my littlest hero, Leighton. She may not be the most traditional hero, and to many, she may not even live up to the definition of hero, but to me, she does. I envy her innocence, her excitement, her happiness, her compassion and her nurturing personality. From the moment she was born, she taught me what life and unconditional love really was. She also taught me what struggling, motherhood and even a miracle is. But what she really taught me was what truly matters.

Sure, I wiped off the kitchen counters 7 times already today, did 4 loads of laundry and vacuumed twice today…but I know I don’t have to. I know it doesn’t matter. I knew it didn’t even matter if I got this post up in time today. I knew the only thing that mattered was spending time with her today as I teach her and she teaches me. That is all she needs today, and that is all I need too. And if nothing else gets done today, that’s okay. She reminds me everyday how blessed I am to have my little IVF miracle in my life. She has been a fighter since day 1. And she reminds me how we could all display a little more happiness and compassion towards others. The world doesn’t have to beat it all out of us everyday. Maybe one day I’ll be Leighton’s hero too, but she will always be mine.

We had such beautiful 70 degree weather this weekend that we hit a new park yesterday morning. The sunshine was so refreshing! Leighton could have played on the swing and slide all day. She had a ball, and it was honestly hard to get her to stand still to get some pictures. We both did a little coordinating in Boden, and I think both of these looks are so perfect for spring (and my sweater is on sale and perfect for Valentine’s Day too!) She wasn’t feeling her adorable pom scarf, so I got to sport it. ☺ But the good news is she wore a beanie for the first time ever since the first month of her life when we wore one every single day to cover up all the black and blue bruises and swelling all on her head. She normally does not like anything on her head, but from the moment she saw it yesterday morning, she refused to take it off all day! And I ordered my beanie in the girl’s section, but it fit perfectly in a large so we could match. The weather was so nice, we even went back to the park that afternoon when she got up from her nap too. These are the beautiful days I live for!
