With quite a few work trips each year and already a few family trips planned for this year, I thought it was the perfect time to share what to pack for a trip to make your life even easier.Β  We just got back from Atlanta a couple weeks ago, and even though I was already doing a few of these things listed below, there were a few that I wasn’t…but you can bet that I will next time!
1.Β  Pack the saran wrap.Β  It is perfect for making all your bottled liquids leak-proof.Β  Take the lid off of your bottles and add a small piece of saran wrap.Β  Then place the lid back on the bottle and tape it shut.Β  This will offer 2 levels of protection, and you definitely won’t have your clothing soaked in liquids.Β  I have learned this lesson the hard way too many times.Β  I use Chi hair oil, and about half of the time I have ended up with oil all on everything.Β  Never again!
2.Β Β Pack aΒ backpack.Β  I love to carry the biggest one possible so I can use it as my purse, my laptop holder and a place to put any other valuables or essentials in that I want to keep on me at all time while traveling.Β  It’s perfect while navigating through the airport, and it’s just as handy to carry around once you reach your destination.Β  Think of all the souvenirs (or comfy sandals, sunglasses, bottled water and lipbalm) you can stuff in it.
3.Β  Pack a jewelry organizer.Β  Without it, I wouldn’t even waste my time packing jewelry.Β  I still have about 12 necklaces knotted together from years ago that I still have yet to be able to get apart.Β  Trust me on this one.
4.Β  Pack a small sewing kit.Β  I cannot tell you how many times a buttonΒ has fallen off or something has ripped.Β  Nobody has time to find a tailor while traveling, so pack a kit so you can make small alterations if you need to.
5.Β  Pack a fabric steamer.Β  I recently received the Conair Turbo Extremesteam Handheld Fabric Steamer, and this has changed my life.Β  I travel for work about 6 times a year, and most all of those times I have to dress up for meetings.Β  The worst is when I pack a bunch of dresses and blouses, and even though I roll them in my suitcase, they still end up wrinkled.Β  I seriously cannot believe how quickly and easily this steamer worked.Β  It’s also great for use at home on curtains or other fabrics.
I’m excited to hopefully help make your travel a little easier too by teaming up with Conair today to give away one Conair steamer!Β  To enter, just use the rafflecopter widget below.Β  Good luck!Β  What is the one thing you pack that makes your travel easier?

  1. Your outfit is sooo cute! I love the ruffles! Also your packing tip about bringing a sewing kit is so helpful because I have gotten places and a button has fallen off or it has a small snag and then I feel like I can't wear it the rest of the trip!

  2. Great tips!
My tip is that I plan an outfit a day for both my daughter and I. I fold each outfit together, along with undergarments, so I don't have to really think about outfit planning while on vacation.

  3. i'm definitely a convert to the roll, don't fold method. i stick socks, underwear, etc inside shoes. the best tip for packing was given to me by the boyfriend. no matter what, we always split our luggage with half my clothes in mine and half my clothes in his, and vice versa. you never know when they'll take your carryon, and definitely with a checked bag we do this. just make sure you've thought ahead and packed outfits that work together lol.

  4. I try to have dual uses from the main garment items like tops and pants. If I'm flying, I like to wear Lands' End Starfish Pants – so comfortable and I can wear them when I'm just lounging around in my motel room. They look really nice but feel like yoga pants…modest, too.

  5. One thing I do when traveling is use a straw for each necklace & bracelet that I am taking. I put a necklace through the straw and hook the clasp to prevent them ending up in knots.
I have been looking at steamers for my daughters and myself.

  6. I love using samples for my bathroom kit when traveling. I save up samples of toothpaste, shampoos, face creams and more because they take up so little room yet I still get to have my favorite products with me. It's fun trying new products this way too.

  7. I use big ziplock bags for my toiletries (in case they leak), but I like the Saran Wrap idea!
I also try to roll my clothes – for some reason I can pack more outfits this way!

  8. My tip is to think of the type of events that you will have on your trip and plan your outfits for each. Then add some flexible items for variety.

  9. Since I only really travel with kids now I always try to have a bag handy with the essentials (snacks, chargers, etc) that is always within arms reach. In my suitcase I try to pack things in groups. Pajamas to the left, shirts in the middle and pants on the right or however so that I know what part the clothing item I'm looking for is in and there's no need to dig through everything.

  10. Print everything out! Hard copies! Overseas many, many times computers will be down or used by untrained people. My husband and I travel excessively, no matter what there is no substitute for well-laid out travel plans! We keep a small folder in our computer bag with all our hotel/flight and other confirmation print-outs. I can't say how many times our reservations have been lost, having that print-out of our confirmation saved our bacon so many times! Traveling with a toddler it's just too difficult to find last minute plan b's!

  11. I am a firm believer in list making! It helps you remember everything you need to bring. Also make another one for when you are packing to head back home so you don't forget anything, like a charger or anything like that.

  12. I always make a list and check it twice. Also, a helpful travel tip is to store your jewelry in an organizer. This will ensure the jewels make it without being tangled.

  13. My sister is a flight attendant and swears by her travel sized steamer! She says every person who travels should own one especially since your clothes still wrinkle even if they are rolled up!

  14. I always plan out each outfit and try on before packing. I write down what top, pants etc go together and I only pack those items. Less packing and each day I pull out my paper to see what I'm scheduled to wear that day!

  15. ZIPLOC BAGS are a must! Don't spend money expensive brand Space Bags – ziploc bags do just the same. I like to make a daily bag with clothes, vitamins, meds, etc. so that I am not going through my entire bag every single day and constantly repacking.

  16. My best travel tip came from a friend who was a frequent world traveler. There's a reason it is called luggage – because you have to lug it around. Pack your suitcase and then take it on a walk around the block. Take half of the contents out of your luggage and leave it at home. Most people overpack – so pack lightly.

  17. I swear by packing cubes. They keep everything organized, especially when we take trips that require an overnight stay before an early flight or to board a cruise – the change of clothes and toiletries packed in their own cube makes it easy to pull items out without rummaging through the whole suitcase.

  18. Old camping trick, roll your clothes. And never check a bag. Everything goes into my carry on so I don't have to wait for luggage claim, etc.
I've found packing light makes for a more simpler, more enjoyable trip.

  19. I have started rolling clothes these days to avoid wrinkles. And yes it works except for the cotton mix(or I might not be rolling them properly). Might need to buy a fabric steamer though. Also whenever I travel, I often take small bottles of lotions, creams, etc with me because the ones they give in the hotels don't always suit me.and I'd rather avoid the risk.οΏ½οΏ½ Less bottoms and more tops are a must too οΏ½οΏ½

  20. I like to pre-plan how I will get from place to place, using public transit as much as possible. Knowing how I am going to get around makes me less stressed.
