It’s no secret that Shane and I have been working on updating our home since we moved into it a couple years ago. We put a fresh coat of paint on every wall throughout the house. We have purchased new furniture for almost every room now. We are finally getting things the way we like them so that our house really fits our family. But what we noticed wasn’t fitting our family was that we had yet to install and set up a home security system. Shane has been mentioning and reminding me about us needing to get one for a couple years now since we moved. And he was absolutely right!
We might live out in the country now, but believe me, that doesn’t matter. Break-ins can happen anywhere at any time. Especially now that we have a larger family with Leighton, it is beyond time to finally get another home security system. We do so much researching to find the perfect bottle, the perfect stroller and the perfect baby carrier to tote them in, so why wouldn’t we spend that same amount of time and energy on researching, finding and installing the best home security system?
Let’s be honest here, I think some of the main reasons that I kept putting off getting a new home security system once we moved was 1.) I was afraid it would cost an arm and a leg. And 2.) I kept thinking that a break-in wouldn’t happen to us in our neighborhood. Well, just like insurance, you don’t need it…until you actually need it. And then it’s too late. I am the more laidback parent, and Shane is definitely the worrier. We balance each other out, and I’m glad he is there to remind me sometimes that we do need to take precautions to protect our home and our family, especially when it comes to Leighton.
After doing (A LOT of) research (thanks Shane), we finally settled on the Iris by Lowe’s home security system
. Iris is a DIY smart home + security system by Lowe’s that connects an entire range of Iris-compatible smart devices in your home through a single app. It delivers all the benefits of professional security monitoring, with a home management system, without the long-term contract that security systems require. Thank you Lowe’s! Is anyone else over all the contracts? I am so happy that things are moving away from contracts these days so we can truly try out a product and stick with it because we love it, not because we are forced to stay in our contract.
Another one of my favorite things about Iris is that it is actually an affordable home security system. Iris customers can now enroll in the professional monitoring service plan for $14.95 per month – the best value among smart home security systems. It is designed for easy setup and use, with a single mobile app to manage home security needs, with the customer service and support your come to expect from Lowe’s.
With Shane, Leighton and I doing quite a bit of travel this year, Iris not only gives us more security to know our home is safe and protected, it is also nice being able to control many of our home’s features while we’re thousands of miles away. We can check and change the temperature, turn off or turn on the lights and even make sure our garage door is closed. No more leaving the house and wondering if you closed and turned off everything. Iris continues to add the best smart devices to its catalogue of compatible products for a tailored experience. Iris has DIY in its DNA, meaning you can build your smart home at your own pace. Iris works with over 100+ smart devices including sensors, switches, plugs, keypads, locks, thermostats, bulbs, alarms, detectors, garage openers, heaters, vents and more.
