Reactivate it to view this content.We’ve already had one semi-formal wedding to attend this year, and Leighton and I will be in New York this week for fashion week with quite a few shows and parties to attend. It’s not quite as often that I have a semi-formal outfit to wear, but when I do, I like to make sure I am prepared. I’m sharing the rules below of how to choose your semi formal outfit and show up to your event perfectly dressed. I always say you would rather show up overdressed than underdressed!
1. A LBD. I prefer ones that are comfortable and have a hemline of at least to the knees or below to keep it classy. = )
2. A Classic pair of heels. My go-to shoes for a semi formal outfit are nude, black or metallic heeled sandals. They are such a great staple that I reach for most anytime I have an event to get dressed up for.
3. A small bag or clutch. The last thing you want to do when showing up to a semi-formal event is to have a huge big shoulder bag draped over your shoulder. A smaller bag will help you to look even more put together and dressier.
4. Statement jewelry. I love throwing on 1 or 2 statement jewelry pieces, but this is especially true for special events. They really elevate the outfit and make them stand out.
