5 Reasons to take a Sur la Table Cooking Class

SHOP OUR DATE NIGHT LOOKS:

I cannot believe that neither Matt nor I had ever taken a cooking class before! I had always wanted to, but I was nervous about what it would be like. I can’t believe I put it off for so long… but I am SO happy that Matt and I got to do our first one together Valentine’s week at Sur la Table at Shops of Saddle Creek.

Whether it’s your first time taking a cooking class or you were hesitant about finally diving in, I wanted to share my favorite reasons why you should take a Sur La Table cooking class and what to expect.

5 Reasons to Take a Sur La Table Cooking Class:

1.) They can improve your cooking skills.

I used to love cooking (or the idea of cooking), but I honestly didn’t know where to start. Since Matt and I got together, we just naturally starting cooking together, and we love it! We love cooking our usual favorites, but we also love trying new recipes together and adding to our list of favorite meals.

2.) They’re great for your communication skills.

After all, cooking together is all about being a team. You stir, and I’ll pour. You wash, and I’ll dice. Cooking is all about working together as a team, and it’s great for your relationship. It will definitely help you to work better together or learn where there is some room for improvement. It’s like a class to help work on your relationship while having fun!

3.) It forces you out of your comfort zone.

Only cooking meals from boxes, the same old recipes or sitting on the couch eating dinner while watching tv? Taking a cooking class will take you out of your comfort zone and force you to try something new, scary or even challenging.

4.) You get the best of both worlds:

getting dressed up for a date and out of the house, but you still feel comfortable doing something fun and natural together that you would do at home. It honestly is such a romantic date to take a cooking class together! You feel comfortable together, but you’re forced to step it up at notch and not spend all night in your frumpy pjs. = )

5.) Cooking healthy, fresh meals together is so much better (and more cost friendly than eating out all the time.)

Saving money and putting your health and relationship first while still having fun?? Yes please!

We were at the Sur La Table cooking class for 2 hours. We cooked for about an hour, shopped around the store while the chef plated everything and then ate dinner together. We were paired in groups of 4 to cook together, and while we were cooking with our significant others, it really was a team effort too.

We cooked seared scallops, risotto and haricots verts. We had the best time, and I cannot wait to go to another class with Matt again. Have you taken a cooking class at Sur la Table before? What did you like most about it?
