Christmas is my favorite holiday, and it is also my favorite time of year to style a gorgeous tablescape! There is just something about setting the tables for the holidays that is so special to me. The Christmas plates, the organic touches of greenery; I just love it! After styling a pretty tablescape for my Christmas party at a nearby venue, I just couldn’t help but styling one more at my house!

I am always one for adding holiday decor pieces each year without doing a complete overhaul and spending too much money. So…I am a big fan of using what you already have! And I did just that. I started with my favorite pieces and then added in a few new pieces this year to add some fun whimsical touches and color. And of course I had to stick with my favorite blue and white color scheme. = )

1.) Lay your foundation for your centerpiece. I recommend starting with some greenery in the middle of the table. I used this cypress garland because it lays flat and is so perfect for layering different things on top, but you can also use holly branches, or eucalyptus leave. Get creative!

2.) Layer festive color on top. I was out of fresh holly this time so I used some pretty red Christmas ornaments to add some color and dimension. I also added a fun little nutcracker in the middle and some red nutcracker pillows. Berries are a favorite of mine, but even some pinecones that have been spray painted red or a pretty metallic color would look great.

3.) Add some height with your centerpiece. I used some of my favorite mercury trees to add different heights and levels visually in the middle of the table, but you could do this with a vase with beautiful berry branches or an arrangement too.

4.) Sprinkle in some beautiful candle holders and candles with your tablescape. You can use pillar candle holders and candles too, but I personally love the classic look of taper candle holders and candles. It gives it such an elegant feel.

5.) Add some glam with metallics. Gold candle holders, mercury silver trees, champagne colored chargers. These are all great ways to take your tablescape up a notch with some metallic hues. It really does elevate your entire holiday tablescape!

6.) Add your favorite Christmas plates. I fell in love with these last year from Dillard’s, but you could also use great classic plates and add in Christmas touches with your glasses, chargers or even napkins. I used my favorite chargers and plates and added the Christmas accent plates. Since my napkins were a classic white, we made them into the shape of a Christmas tree to add a fun and festive touch. If you don’t have any Christmas accent plates, you could also add little Christmas details on the plates like a colorful red napkin, holly berries or even some mistletoe or pinecones. It doesn’t all have to scream Christmas. It just needs some touches here and there!

Will you be entertaining for Christmas at home? Do you love a good holiday tablescape? What is your favorite Christmas color scheme? I love blue white and red!

  1. Love your nutcracker pillow. I have collected German Nutcrackers for some time. We had to put a stop on it though as we do not have storage room for them out of season. This would be another way of having nutcrackers in our home. :)!
