I can’t believe it’s already been a few weeks since our Big Sky, Montana trip. It is one we look forward to each year! The views here are gorgeous, and I love that it’s not nearly as crowded as some mountain towns. It is small and quaint, but there is still so much to do there! I’ve had several people over on instagram ask for a travel guide ever since we shared our trip, so I’m dropping my 10 favorite things to do, see and eat in Big Sky. Check them out and let me know your favorites!
Big Sky Travel Guide
.) Ski Lone Peak – First thing’s first, if you are going to Big Sky, you are probably looking forward to skiing, right?! Matt and I were just there at the beginning of January, and they were in definite need of snow, but thank goodness after all this snow, it should be the perfect place to ski right now!
.) Eat sushi at Blue Buddha – After a long day of skiing, if you love sushi, you will want to add this to your list. It was absolutely incredible! It was some of the best sushi I have ever had, and we all had such a great experience!
.) Have dinner at Everett’s 8800 – Ride the Ramcharger 8 up the mountain to 8,800 feet above sea level for an elevated dining experience. The entire experience is really great from the ride up the mountain in the dark to seeing the views up on top of the mountain to eating great food. I had the trout and highly recommend!
.) Eat dinner at Peaks Chophouse – If you’re looking for great steak or seafood, this is it! Peaks is so good! It was easily one of our favorite meals while in Big Sky over the last couple years. I always get the seabass, yum!
.) Walk through Enchanted Forest – After dinner at Everett’s, make sure to buy tickets for the Enchanted Forest and explore the mountaintop with tons of lights. You will walk through the forest, and it is definitely enchanted. It is great for parents and kids. And it ends with a firepit where you can roast marshmallows. The entire experience was very magical!
.) Go on a sleigh ride – This is one of my top things to do here! It is so dreamy being pulled on a sleigh by horses through the snow. After your sleigh ride, you will enjoy an amazing home cooked steak dinner. It is 100% worth the experience and great food!
.) Go fly fishing – Fly fishing is such a fun sport and experience. We have been a couple times before, and it was not only fun fishing, but fly fishing is so unique from any other kind of fishing. And those views you’re seeing while fly fishing?? They make it even more fun!
.) Go hiking – One of my favorite things to do in the mountains is to go hiking. I just love getting in a workout while taking in the beautiful views. Here is a post with 5 great hikes that are recommended in Big Sky.
.) Visit Yellowstone National Park – We have been to Yellowstone in Wyoming several times, but Yellowstone in Montana is even more gorgeous! You can do a stagecoach tour to get out and really explore all of the geysers and sights while there. Another option while in Yellowstone is to do a snowmobile tour through the park. We have done this several times, and it is definitely worth it! It does get super cold so bundle up! They will give you layers too, but come with some hot hands or other baselayers to make sure you have a more comfortable and enjoyable time.
.) Stay at Big Sky Resort – We have stayed here over the last couple years. Last year we stayed at Huntley Lodge and really loved it. The rooms were updated, and the hotel is the perfect location to skiing. This year we stayed at Shoshone Condos and loved it too. The rooms weren’t quite as updated as Huntley, but ours was very spacious with a large bedroom, murphy bed and fireplace in the living room and balcony and full kitchen. WE had gorgeous views off our balcony we got to take in each day.
