We love New York City! Matt has been with me once before, and I’ve been several times now with friends, family and Leighton. Now that the kids are getting older, I am adding another NY trip to the calendar soon. NY is a great spot for couples trips and friends trips, but did you know that it is just as family friendly too?! There is so much there to do for kids too, and that is especially true during Christmas time! I really had a friend ask me for my top family friendly NY recommendations, so I wanted to share that today with everyone. Keep reading for my favorites!
Get tickets to see the Rockettes at the Christmas Spectacular. We have done this twice now, and I would recommend it to anyone! I cannot wait to take the girls soon!
Go ice skating at the Rink at Rockefeller Center. This was such a fun memorable time. Ice skating by the gorgeous Christmas tree felt like pure magic. It feels like you’re definitely in a movie.
Take the 9/11 Memorial Tour. This was hands down one of the most impactful thing we did on our trips. I have done this 3 times already, and I would still do it again. This tour and museum is really special and worth the time.
Take a carriage ride with hot chocolate at Central Park. We love getting hot chocolate at Tavern on the Green in Central Park and then going for a carriage ride. Nothing says Christmas in NY more than that.
Get tickets to a Broadway show. There are endless options of shows to see. I would 100% recommend checking out the calendar for the dates you will be in town and seeing a show on Broadway.
Go shopping in Greenwich Village. There are several great walking tours here too and so many unique shops and restaurants.
Visit the MET. The Metropolitan Museum of Art is great for kids and adults. The even had a dedicated play space for kids here.
See the Views from the Empire State Building. We have done this each time too, and it really is a must do experience.
Take a ferry to the Statue of Liberty. The ferry ride is only about 15 minutes and definitely worth it. You can also get some great views without taking the ferry over, but I would recommend going on the ferry.
Take a subway to the Brooklyn Bridge and walk over it by foot. We bought some coffee and hot chocolate first, took the subway and warmed up walking with them. Then when we made it over to Brooklyn, we ate at a pizza restaurant. It was so good!
