A Family Guide to Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine, Texas: Is It Worth the Cost?

Located about 20 miles from both Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas, Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine is super family friendly resort that features an indoor and outdoor waterpark and tons of indoor entertainment. It is so much more than just a HOTEL with a POOL. The resort comes with SO many different attractions and activities included with your stay and their are so many add-ons to make your stay even more incredible. And the biggest attraction of them all is the indoor heated 84-degree waterpark, which is included with your overnight stay. You get SO much for just one price!

But if you’ve looked at the price, you may be wondering the same thing many parents do before booking. Is Great Wolf Lodge Grapevine actually worth the cost for families? So is Great Wolf Lodge worth the cost? 100% yes! Because everything is under one roof, Great Wolf Lodge is our favorite resort destination. It is perfect for families who want a low-stress trip where kids always have something entertaining to do, and you don’t even have to leave the property. Whether you’re visiting in the summer heat or during cooler months in the spring, fall or winter, the indoor water park keeps the kids happy and entertained year-round.

The indoor water park is easily the highlight of Great Wolf Lodge Grapevine, and it’s designed so kids of most all ages can enjoy. Even Matt and I love it! There is an adult only hot tub, fun slides and a wave pool to keep us just as entertained too. My kids are ages 11, 7 and 5, and they all love it so much still. I think it would be great all the way from small toddler ages to teenagers. Your kids will love how much there is to do, and you will love how easy and convenient it is all under one roof!

Some of the most popular attractions of the indoor waterpark are:

  • Fort Mackenzie – a giant multi-level water treehouse with slides and a massive tipping bucket
  • Howlin’ Tornado – a thrilling raft ride that spins through a giant funnel, minimum 48″
  • River Canyon Run – a group raft slide that families can ride together, minimum height is 42″
  • Crooked Creek – lazy river perfect for floating and relaxing
  • Whooping Hollow – great area for small kids to safely play
  • Totem Towers – Body slides great for all ages, minimum height is 42″
  • Coyote Cannon – a 40 ft. drop tandem tube ride, minimum height is 42″
  • Alberta Falls – Super fun tandem tube ride, minimum height is 42″
  • Slap Tail Pond Wave Pool – great for the entire family who wants a little more excitement
  • North Hot Springs – hot tubs, minimum age 18

Some of the most popular attractions of the outdoor waterpark are:

  • South Hot Springs – warm hot springs outdoors
  • Racoon Lagoon – outdoor zero entry pool
  • Thunder Run and Lightning Falls – the 2 outdoor waterslides that are both closed tunnel and open air in some spots, minimum height 42″

Both indoors and out, there are shallow splash areas designed for younger children, making the water park accessible for toddlers all the way up to teens. For parents, there are hot tubs and seating areas where you can relax while the kids play. There is something for everyone here, and we have only covered the waterpark so far. That is just the beginning of what Great Wolf Lodge has to offer. There are so many different indoor attractions for kids, and there are 3 different attractions passes you can purchase to add on even more fun during your stay. Passes include:

Because there are so many activities throughout the resort, it’s easy to keep kids entertained all day long. It is the perfect vacation to celebrate children’s birthdays, a long weekend out of school or summer vacation. The combination of an indoor water park, themed rooms, and built-in entertainment makes it more than just a hotel—it’s really a complete family experience. While it costs more than a typical hotel stay, it comes with SO much more than just a typical hotel stay. It is a resort, amusement park and waterpark all in one that is great for all ages!
