Where to Stay in Asheville, North Carolina: Inside the Omni Grove Park Inn & Spa

If you’re looking for a place to stay in Asheville that is timeless, historic and completely elevated, this is one you won’t forget. Perched above the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Omni Grove Park Inn has a way of slowing everything down the moment you arrive. The mountain views stretch for miles, the atmosphere is calm and elevated, and every detail—from the stone architecture to the quiet corners throughout the property—feels intentional. It’s a hotel where you will really want to take in everything here. The entire experience is one that you just have to see for yourself.

About the Omni Grove Park Inn Asheville

The Omni Grove Park Inn is one of Asheville’s most iconic resorts, known for its historic charm, mountain views, award-winning golf course and world-class spa. It was built in 1913 with over 12,000 feet of granite stone mined from Sunset Mountain, and the design was modeled after the Old Faithful Inn in Yellowstone National Park. Located just minutes from downtown Asheville, it gives you the best of both worlds—you’re close to everything, but it still feels tucked away and peaceful. It’s a destination in itself, not just a place to sleep. The hotel has so many upgraded amenities, it’s easy to never even leave the resort.

The Rooms: Classic, Cozy, and Mountain-Focused

The rooms at the Grove Park Inn lean into a more classic, cozy feel that matches the history of the property more than a modern upgraded room. Still the rooms do a good job of blending history with a more updated version of the room. You’ll find:

  • Deluxe rooms in the historic Main Inn of the hotel
  • Premium more modern rooms in the new phases of the hotel
  • Comfortable beds that feel like a true retreat
  • Large windows with mountain or resort views
  • Warm, neutral tones that create a calming space
  • Mini fridges and coffee makers

The Spa Experience

If there’s one thing the Omni Grove Park Inn is known for, it’s the spa—and it lives up to the reputation and then some. The underground spa feels like its own world, with:

  • Grotto-style mineral pools
  • Waterfalls
  • Therapeutic hot tubs
  • Saunas
  • Cold plunge
  • Loungers and quiet relaxation spaces
  • Soft lighting and natural light that instantly shifts the mood
  • Fireplaces
  • Spots for relaxing both indoors and out

It’s not just a quick stop—it’s something you plan your entire trip and day around.

Dining at the Grove Park Inn

The resort offers several dining options, whether you’re looking for something casual or more elevated. Some of my favorites are:

  • Sunset Terrace is known for its incredible mountain views—especially at golden hour. All seating is outdoors.
  • Blue Ridge offers a more classic, Southern-inspired dining buffet experience. It is huge and 100% worth every penny.
  • Vue 1913 offers a blend of American and French cuisine. Perfect for a nicer dinner option.
  • Edison is a casual spot that has great elevated bar food. Highly recommend their burgers. Indoor and outdoor seating.

What Makes the Omni Grove Park Inn Different?

There are plenty of hotels in Asheville, but this one is completely unique. First, it’s the setting. Being up in the mountains gives you those wide, open views. Then there’s the history. The granite stone of the building stands out and gives it such a gorgeous historic look and feel. And finally, it’s the pace. This isn’t a rushed, in-and-out kind of stay. It naturally encourages you to slow down, stay a little longer in each moment and actually enjoy where you are. In the lobby are two huge fireplaces surrounded with rocking chairs. There is also a bar, piano and several tables and chairs. The entire hotel encourages you to sit back and relax and take it all in.

Things to Do Near Asheville

While the resort itself has everything you need, you’re also just a short drive from some of the best things to do in Asheville:

  • Explore downtown Asheville’s shops, restaurants, and art galleries.
  • Visit the Biltmore Estate and take a tour.
  • Drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway for incredible views.
  • Hike nearby trails and waterfalls.

It’s easy to mix relaxation with a little adventure.

Is the Omni Grove Park Inn Worth It?

If you’re looking for a luxury hotel in Asheville that combines views, history and a true spa experience, it’s absolutely worth it. I have been twice now for a girls’ trip, and I look forward to taking Matt for the first time next year. This hotel is ideal for:

  • A relaxing weekend getaway
  • A spa-focused trip
  • A romantic trip or girls’ getaway
  • Anyone wanting a unique, historic but elevated hotel stay

Tips for Staying at the Omni Grove Park Inn

  • The hotel books about 9 months out, so check for dates as soon as you can.
  • If you’re looking for a more affordable stay, booking during summer is your best bet.
  • The spa fills up so quickly, book it immediately as soon as you book your rooms 9 months out.
  • Spend at least 2 days at the spa. Get their when they open, and stay until they close. Grab a chair as soon you get to the spa.
  • Dining books up quickly, especially at Sunset Terrace, so book on OpenTable.
  • For the best historic experience, stay in the deluxe rooms. They are also closer to all the action.
  • Rocking chairs fill up quickly, so when you find one open, claim it.

Final Thoughts

There’s something about being here that makes my heart so happy. This place is truly one of a kind. The views, the stillness, the slower pace—it all works together in a way that helps you step out of your routine and into something more restful. And all that with mountain views right here in the South, you just can’t beat that. It’s close enough to Memphis for a quick little trip where you can easily drive or fly. If you love spas, the mountains or golf, the Omni Grove Park Inn needs to be added to your travel list.
