Skinny Jeans

I can’t even tell you how nice it was to have a week day to do whatever I wanted.  I went for a run in my neighborhood, and then my sister and I ate at Ernestine & Hazels downtown for lunch.  I had never been before, and I didn’t even realize it used to be an old brothel.  After that, it was a pharmacy.  It was dark and pretty old inside, build around 1900 approximately from what we were told.  The bartender was such a nice man, and he even gave us a tour and told us of some of the visitors they had over the years.  We walked around upstairs where there is another bar and a couple of pianos.  Out back, they have a private room you can rent out (where Black Snake Moan was filmed), and there is even a restaurant in back called 5.  They have two things on the menu – the soul burger and gumbo.  I got the soul burger with no bun, and it was amazing.  It has grilled onions on it too.  I think what I liked best though was all the amazing history and even the stories of the building being haunted.  If you’re in the Memphis area, you should definitely stop by.  I’m looking forward to going one night and hopefully listening to some good music!

Rose Royce contacted me a couple of weeks ago about a contest they are running to get a chance to attend the Lucky Fabb conference.  They send me a nice dark wash pair of denim that I’m wearing today.  They don’t have cropped styles as of yet, so I had to roll them up, but I really like the nice wash on these with some slight whiskering.  I just realized it has been months since I’ve worn a pair of denim on the blog.  Here in Memphis I don’t normally wear denim unless it’s casual Friday or unless it’s October to February, so it was nice for a change today.  If you get a chance, you can vote for me here.  The contest ends this Saturday, so I am a little late to the game since I just got in my pair of jeans, but I still appreciate you voting if you can.  = )  They are also offering 10% off with the code blogger10.  They have a really good selection online, and the prices aren’t bad at all for a quality made pair of denim.  Have a great Labor Day weekend, and I will see you on Tuesday!
