Statement Tee

I hope everyone had a great weekend!  Friday night we tried out Bar Louie in Overton Square for the first time.  The atmosphere was great.  They had a huge patio we sat out on, and the weather was just perfect.  We had chicken nachos for an appetizer, and I had the fried egg and bacon sandwich for my entree.  The sandwich was pretty good, but the nachos were definitely my favorite.  We had family from Nashville in town on Saturday, and went to our cousin’s 3rd birthday party.  She is too, too cute, and we can’t wait to head to Nashville soon to see them some more.  The picture is of his other cousin because the birthday girl, Andrea, wouldn’t sit still long enough for me to get a picture.  Sunday we got up and ran 2 miles on the riverwalk across from our house.  We ran up and down one side of the bridge, and then repeated it and ran back home.  It was a little over 2 miles.  It was just the perfect amount of time to get a short run in and then go about our day.  After the run, the sun came out so I spent 3 hours by the pool.  I feel completely refreshed now and ready for the week…except for that presentation I have to do this Wednesday at work.  I do not like public speaking one bit.  Performing in public (cheerleading, gymnastic, dance, etc.) was never a problem at all, but speaking in public is a big fear of mine.  I get so nervous, and honestly I think I hype it up much more than I should.  Does anyone have any pointers on how to be calm and speak slowly while presenting?

    Super cute outfit, love the pop of color from the skirt! I too get nervous in front of an audience. I hear focusing on a person or area of the room helps, it's helped me in the past. I've also heard picturing everyone naked helps but not sure if that one actually helps! 🙂

    I actually won an award for public speaking from my community college back when I was 16 or 17 (I did dual enrollment), but I must have forgotten everything I learned at that one speech class because I get oh so nervous every time I have to speak in public too! Thankfully once I start the speech I can just concentrate on the material and forget the faces staring back at me. If you know the material well, just imagine that you're having a conversation with yourself, out loud. Or that you're teaching some friends about what you're saying. Hope that helps!

    As always, LOVE the outfit!! The tee is perfection. As far as public speaking goes, I try to breath deeply right before I start talking, and if you are a jitter bug like me, put a penny in your shoe or hold a paper clip to draw away the nervous energy. Figgiting your toes or fingers, especially if you are behind the podium doesn't take away from your presentation – hope that makes sense. Best of luck!

    I love Bar Louie…I always try to go when I'm back in the Midwest! And I hate public speaking with a passion! I even took a speaking class to help, but I still get nervous. I just try to not look directly at any one person and I mark on my paper with a bright color at intervals to remind myself when to pause. Also, drinking chamomile tea helps. Best of luck!

    When ever I have to do any type of public speaking I always write myself a little pep talk in the margin of my talking points/notes. I just take a blue pen (blue is supposed to help you feel calm) and scatter little things like "you're doing great" "breathe" "calm down, you got this", and my favorite "Almost Done!"

    Love that top! And it sounds like you had a nice weekend! Public speaking is my absolute worst fear. I also hype it up waaaaay too much and I think that is the biggest issue. I always just try to tell myself to relax and go with it (easier said than done). Good luck – I'm sure you'll do great!

    Love that skirt and love the shirt! Adorable. I really want to try Bar Louie next time we are home. We used to live right down the street from Overton Square, and I miss it so much! So glad to see that area being revitalized.
