With quite a few work trips each year and already a few family trips planned for this year, I thought it was the perfect time to share what to pack for a trip to make your life even easier. We just got back from Atlanta a couple weeks ago, and even though I was already doing a few of these things listed below, there were a few that I wasn’t…but you can bet that I will next time!
1. Pack the saran wrap. It is perfect for making all your bottled liquids leak-proof. Take the lid off of your bottles and add a small piece of saran wrap. Then place the lid back on the bottle and tape it shut. This will offer 2 levels of protection, and you definitely won’t have your clothing soaked in liquids. I have learned this lesson the hard way too many times. I use Chi hair oil, and about half of the time I have ended up with oil all on everything. Never again!
2. Pack a backpack. I love to carry the biggest one possible so I can use it as my purse, my laptop holder and a place to put any other valuables or essentials in that I want to keep on me at all time while traveling. It’s perfect while navigating through the airport, and it’s just as handy to carry around once you reach your destination. Think of all the souvenirs (or comfy sandals, sunglasses, bottled water and lipbalm) you can stuff in it.
3. Pack a jewelry organizer. Without it, I wouldn’t even waste my time packing jewelry. I still have about 12 necklaces knotted together from years ago that I still have yet to be able to get apart. Trust me on this one.
4. Pack a small sewing kit. I cannot tell you how many times a button has fallen off or something has ripped. Nobody has time to find a tailor while traveling, so pack a kit so you can make small alterations if you need to.
5. Pack a fabric steamer. I recently received the Conair Turbo Extremesteam Handheld Fabric Steamer, and this has changed my life. I travel for work about 6 times a year, and most all of those times I have to dress up for meetings. The worst is when I pack a bunch of dresses and blouses, and even though I roll them in my suitcase, they still end up wrinkled. I seriously cannot believe how quickly and easily this steamer worked. It’s also great for use at home on curtains or other fabrics.
I’m excited to hopefully help make your travel a little easier too by teaming up with Conair today to give away one Conair steamer! To enter, just use the rafflecopter widget below. Good luck! What is the one thing you pack that makes your travel easier?
Thanks for the tips!
You've pretty much hit the nail on the head! I always travel with a jewelry organizer or else I'll lose them. What I don't have is a steamer which would be ideal! Thanks for sharing.
Love both of you stripe shirts <3

Great tips! I might need that steamer! I have been looking for one!
I LOVE your clothing rack! Do you have a link for it?
Your outfit is sooo cute! I love the ruffles! Also your packing tip about bringing a sewing kit is so helpful because I have gotten places and a button has fallen off or it has a small snag and then I feel like I can't wear it the rest of the trip!
xoxo, Hannah
Great tips!
My tip is that I plan an outfit a day for both my daughter and I. I fold each outfit together, along with undergarments, so I don't have to really think about outfit planning while on vacation.
My best travel tip is rolling all of your clothing. They are less likely to get wrinkles and you can fit more in your suitcase!

My tip is to make a list of all of the items you need and then check it off as you pack so you make sure not to forget anything.
I love the idea of saran wrap! One of the things that I like to do when traveling is to pack extra socks for the plane. I like to wear sandals when traveling, sometimes so I can get through security faster, but my toes get cold on the plane, so I always pack cozy, warm socks to put on!

pack items you're willing to leave behind in the hotel room or donate to your host to have extra luggage room for shopping:)
Definitely have to roll up all my clothes so I have room for everything!
I LOVE your clothing rack!:) Very nice! 🙂
Make a list of what to pack ahead of time that way you're less likely to forget anything.
I have a full size steamer and I LOVE it!!! A smaller one would be awesome for travel!
I love making traveling easier by bringing basic items to mix and match!
xo,
Lauryncakes
Make a list ahead of time. Double check prior to leaving for a trip. Always over pack. I'd rather have to much, than not enough of what I need.
Always make a list, so you don't forget anything.
I love to layout complete outfits when packing so I know that I always have full looks when I get there!
Put together pieces that can be easily mix and matched to create more outfits.

i'm definitely a convert to the roll, don't fold method. i stick socks, underwear, etc inside shoes. the best tip for packing was given to me by the boyfriend. no matter what, we always split our luggage with half my clothes in mine and half my clothes in his, and vice versa. you never know when they'll take your carryon, and definitely with a checked bag we do this. just make sure you've thought ahead and packed outfits that work together lol.

Always pack lightly!
I make lots of lists and pack pieces that will multitask for me on trips!
xx Nina
I would love that steamer!
I always roll my clothing so I can fit more in my suitcase.
I try to have dual uses from the main garment items like tops and pants. If I'm flying, I like to wear Lands' End Starfish Pants – so comfortable and I can wear them when I'm just lounging around in my motel room. They look really nice but feel like yoga pants…modest, too.
One thing I do when traveling is use a straw for each necklace & bracelet that I am taking. I put a necklace through the straw and hook the clasp to prevent them ending up in knots.
I have been looking at steamers for my daughters and myself.
Read lots of blog posts about the destination you're traveling to! Also roll your clothes. 🙂

I like to roll shirts & pants to save space.
I roll my clothes to make more spaces for more clothing.
Roll my clothes and pack LESS!
Love that steamer, its so powerful!

I travel with a carry-on bag and use packing cubes to make it easier and organize my clothes.
Being organized is the best tip for anyone traveling.
On long trips, I bring old socks and undergarments that I wear once and then throw away. This eliminates some dirty laundry and my suitcase is lighter for souvenirs.
Use shower caps from hotel rooms to encase shoes. This will keep dirty soles from touching anything in your suitcase.
I love using samples for my bathroom kit when traveling. I save up samples of toothpaste, shampoos, face creams and more because they take up so little room yet I still get to have my favorite products with me. It's fun trying new products this way too.
I try to always pack an outfit that can be worn multiple ways. And pack non-wrinkle prone Material.
I use big ziplock bags for my toiletries (in case they leak), but I like the Saran Wrap idea!
I also try to roll my clothes – for some reason I can pack more outfits this way!
~ Kim Pincombe Cole
use bags for each step you need like one for taking off makeup and everything you need to wash your fash in a ziploc bag is what i do
My tip is to think of the type of events that you will have on your trip and plan your outfits for each. Then add some flexible items for variety.
To make traveling even easier I like to bring a big suitcase and just buy clothes wherever I am at. (:
Pack tops and pants that all have the same color scheme so you can make more outfits with less!
You can put your chains through a straw and then connect and attach the ends. Keeps them from tangling.
My tip is to use lots of compartments to keep everything separate.
My tip would be to roll your clothing, mine always fit way better than if I were to fold them and put them in my suit case! My aunt showed me the trick years ago and I've used it ever sense!
Organize everything and double check
What a handy tool for keeping your items in the closet looking pristine. Hate ironing!

Bring laundry detergent
Since I only really travel with kids now I always try to have a bag handy with the essentials (snacks, chargers, etc) that is always within arms reach. In my suitcase I try to pack things in groups. Pajamas to the left, shirts in the middle and pants on the right or however so that I know what part the clothing item I'm looking for is in and there's no need to dig through everything.
Print everything out! Hard copies! Overseas many, many times computers will be down or used by untrained people. My husband and I travel excessively, no matter what there is no substitute for well-laid out travel plans! We keep a small folder in our computer bag with all our hotel/flight and other confirmation print-outs. I can't say how many times our reservations have been lost, having that print-out of our confirmation saved our bacon so many times! Traveling with a toddler it's just too difficult to find last minute plan b's!
My best travel tip is to make a list of items your taking and check it off as you go so you dont forget a thing.
I am a firm believer in list making! It helps you remember everything you need to bring. Also make another one for when you are packing to head back home so you don't forget anything, like a charger or anything like that.
My best tip is to wear super comfy clothing on the plane.
Wow, I didn't know about the saran wrap hack! That is such a useful tip! I always pack a steamer with me as well for most of my trips
Ensure you have travel bottles to put your favorite perfume, lotions and any other items that are too large and take up much needed space.
I always make a list and check it twice. Also, a helpful travel tip is to store your jewelry in an organizer. This will ensure the jewels make it without being tangled.
I would say make a list and bring the travel sizes to save room.
I swear by this steamer. I bring it everywhere I go, including my parent's house. It is the best!
Xx
Lauren
I use the inside of shoes as extra packing space. It helps to protect their shape and allows me to pack more items.
Ensure you have a great size carry on bag and have essentials just in case the flight gets delayed and you are sitting on the plane.
Packing more then you need, you never know!! and having an day outline!!
Packing one of each item and mix and match!
Only pack what you are going to need.
My sister is a flight attendant and swears by her travel sized steamer! She says every person who travels should own one especially since your clothes still wrinkle even if they are rolled up!
I have an excel checklist with the things I always take and then add for each trip.
TSA pre-check is life changing. As for packing, I find that sticking to a simple color palette is easiest.
I always plan out each outfit and try on before packing. I write down what top, pants etc go together and I only pack those items. Less packing and each day I pull out my paper to see what I'm scheduled to wear that day!
I find that making packing lists really helps me. I especially like to make a list for things I can't pack until the day I'm leaving.
Packing cubes! Love them, I can always find what I need without having to unpack everything.
don't leave your packing to the last minute!
These are such great tips. I'm such a messy packer haha.
I pack what I can before hand. And the day We leave all I have to do is pack last minute items. Also make a list what to carry.
My best tip is rolling clothes instead of piling them in suitcases.

I've always wanted one of these
I tend to pack light and wear clothes that can mix and match together.
I'm a notorious over-packer but I've been trying to get better about packing pieces that can be mixed and matched.
I roll pack my clothes for extra space and to prevent wrinkles, and pack products that can do double duty.
I always start packing a few days before the trip. I make sure the only items left to pack on the day of are daily use items like my toothbrush, makeup, etc.
I always like to make a list first and then see if I can cut it down and then pack and always mark off each item as I pack it so I can keep track.
I always make a list a couple days in advance so I can be sure to pack all the essentials and don't forget anything.
Taking clothes that do not wrinkle and make a list 🙂
I like using travel sized items based on duration of trip and roll my clothes for more room in suitcase
My best tip is smart and tight packing! Your socks go in your shoes, etc. It makes going through the airports so much easier. Cute outfit, btw!
I roll my clothes when packing for less wrinkles.
My best tip is definitely to pack light and utilize Ziploc bags for toiletries, etc.
ZIPLOC BAGS are a must! Don't spend money expensive brand Space Bags – ziploc bags do just the same. I like to make a daily bag with clothes, vitamins, meds, etc. so that I am not going through my entire bag every single day and constantly repacking.
To pack small rhings like toothpaste, lotion etc in ziploc bags so they won't spill
I always roll my clothing so I can fit more in my suitcase.
I try to pack travel size items to make more room for my clothes & shoes
Prepping beforehand and double checking to make sure I have everything!
I know this sounds crazy but I roll all my shirts up in my suit case. Save space and they don't get wrinkled. I also put everything else in zip lock bags
Thanks for the saran wrap trick! One time many, many moons ago I traveled with baby oil in my carry on…holy hell…at some point it was dripping out of the overhead. Eek! I grabbed a steamer at home a year ago and it's been life changing. Really think I need a handheld next.

Plan your outfits and roll them up to save space and have less wrinkles.
I like to plan outfits and pack them together. I stack them in order so that on the trip I just grab and go.
I roll up a lot of my clothes so they'll all fit.
packing light
My tip is to pack light. It makes traveling so much easier!
I've been wanting a steamer! This would be perfect!

My best travel tip came from a friend who was a frequent world traveler. There's a reason it is called luggage – because you have to lug it around. Pack your suitcase and then take it on a walk around the block. Take half of the contents out of your luggage and leave it at home. Most people overpack – so pack lightly.

I pack a couple of snacks in case of interruptions in my travel plans.
I like to make a check list when packing and mark it off as I go so I don't forget anything. Also I roll my clothes in my suit case.
Pack light
My best tip is pack clothes that are multi functional so you can create many outfits.
I swear by packing cubes. They keep everything organized, especially when we take trips that require an overnight stay before an early flight or to board a cruise – the change of clothes and toiletries packed in their own cube makes it easy to pull items out without rummaging through the whole suitcase.
I would say to pack light and not to bring your whole closet. I know this is easy to say, but only bring what you absolutely need.
My best tip is to roll your clothes, less wrinkles!
Take only 2 or 3 pair of shoes. I used to find myself taking nearly a whole suitcase full, but didn't end up wearing most of them.
Old camping trick, roll your clothes. And never check a bag. Everything goes into my carry on so I don't have to wait for luggage claim, etc.
I've found packing light makes for a more simpler, more enjoyable trip.
Packing cubes!
I have started rolling clothes these days to avoid wrinkles. And yes it works except for the cotton mix(or I might not be rolling them properly). Might need to buy a fabric steamer though. Also whenever I travel, I often take small bottles of lotions, creams, etc with me because the ones they give in the hotels don't always suit me.and I'd rather avoid the risk. Less bottoms and more tops are a must too
I always roll my clothes so I have more room in my suitcase.
Fabric steamers are such a must for packing on trips!

A check list is always helpful.
my tip is to work on a list of things to do and pack, ahead of time and then check them off as you go!
the best advce i could give would be pacl lightly and make outfits.
My tip is to under pack and roll your clothes.
I like to pre-plan how I will get from place to place, using public transit as much as possible. Knowing how I am going to get around makes me less stressed.
Pack lightly! just take a few versatile pieces to suit what may come up.
Try not to stress too much!
My best tip is prepare way ahead of time that way you don't forget something.
I roll my clothes into small rolls to make packing easier. We also use a laundry bac to throw dirty things in so they wont smell up our luggage
I definitely always bring a backpack to fit lots of extra things in; and make sure to put my shoes in plastic bags so they dont make my clothes stinky!
I roll my clothes so they take up less space! I also pack by outfit not separates.
My tip is to pack versatile things that can be mixed and matched. It cuts down on space and allows you to leave room for souvenirs!
I always pack about a day or 2 in advance & double check to make sure everything is packed & not left behind. It takes so much stress out of packing the night before you leave.
I always pack about a day or 2 in advance & double check to make sure everything is packed & not left behind. It takes so much stress out of packing the night before you leave.
I try to pack lightly when I travel.
I keep sample packets of shampoo/conditioner around and use them when I travel to take up less space in my bag.
Such a lovely blouse!!! Great post!

My tip is to bring an empty reuseable water bottle for the airport and trip. Fil up your water bottle at airport after you go through security.
