.)  These are some of the most trying and difficult times as a parent…well, until they become a teenager I’ve heard.  = )  Cut them a little slack though; they are going through so many cognitive, motor and social changes right now.

.)  These are also some of the most loving and exciting times as a parent.  On days when I was completely worn out and couldn’t take another moment, it was hard to see this.  But usually within a day or 2, I am reminded how much I love this age.  It is trying, but it is always an adventure!
.)  Their strong and adventurous spirits will help them later in life.  So maybe they’re like the Katy Perry song, they’re “hot, then they’re cold; they’re yes, then they’re no.”  So they’re opinionated.  That is your toddler learning who they are and what they like.  Don’t we all want them to know what they like instead of just being told what they like??
.)  They see the best in everyone, and it reminds me of how we should too.  We could all use a little more kindness and giving the benefit of the doubt to others.
.)  Their emotions are SO strong, so yeah that might mean their terrible two tantrums are crazy intense, but think of how sweet it can be when they are happy.  = )  Think of all that unconditional love.  That is what we want to teach them, unconditional love.
.)  They find joy in some of the smallest, everyday things.  Couldn’t we all use a little more of that?  Remember when we would find joy from a swing or lightning bugs?  YES, and those were the best days (before we all overshared, overworked and overcommitted ourselves to everything.)
.)  They might say some mean things, but they will forget about it in no time.  And we should too.  After all, they’re just kids.  They can also say some of the funniest things!  Like how Leighton told me that her bed hurt her feelings last night.  We might have to work on the meaning of “hurt my feelings.”  = )
.)  Their curiosity is infectious.  Simple little everyday things that we never think twice about are so exciting to them.  Sure they might get into almost everything, but it is also so fun watching them explore and learn new things!  They are so curious and smart at this age.
.)  They’re needy one moment and then don’t want you near them the next!  They are slowly gaining more independence.  Just enjoy the balance for now; soon you will wish they wanted you to hold them more!
.)  They CONSTANTLY test you…like constantly lol.  But it also means they are learning.  They are learning right from wrong.  These are all good things.  Just stand strong when you have to, and for the other little tiny things they do like their tantrums, usually ignoring them will make them go away.
They grow up too fast.  And remember it really is about the journey, not the destination.  Take the good with the bad and enjoy these moments.  The only really terrible thing about the terrible twos is that they really do go by too fast.  P.S.
