It’s summa summa summertime, and to cool down, who doesn’t love a good cocktail drink? They can be SO yummy! But they can also be super heavy and filled with tons of sugars and syrups. So today I am sharing 5 great skinny cocktail drinks.
Not only are they light on the sugar (no added sugar in them!), but they are also light and refreshing and perfect for the heat right now. While it can be great to enjoy a fresh drink in summer, I love these lighter options that aren’t too “heavy” on a hot day. Just remember to stay hydrated with water too. It is hot out there y’all!
I took some of my favorite classic drinks and made them lighter. From mimosas to wine spritzers to margs to mules, these cocktails are great classics with a lighter spin on them. The trick is to stay away from the syrups and the sugars. They do contain some natural sugars from the fruit and juice, but it’s much better than adding tons of canned and processed sugars into your drinks.
It’s typically not the alcohol that has all the added sugars in it, it is everything that we typically add to make it sweeter. There are always ways you can trim down the sugar. Adding sparkling water to drinks is a great way to add a little bubble and fizz without adding sugar.
If these drinks still are not sweet enough for you, try topping with more of the fruit or even adding a little honey. It will end up being a little bit better than sugar for you, but go sparingly on any type of sugar (whether white sugar or natural sugars in fruit or honey.)
Personally for me, once you get used to drinking less sugar though, you prefer less sugar! So try these recipes out and let me know what you think. Pineapple Cranberry Rum Cocktail
Ingredients
- 1 oz pineapple juice
- 1 oz cranberry juice
- 2 oz sparkling water
- 1 pineapple
- 2 oz ice
Instructions
- Add all ingredients into a mixing tin.
- Shake well.
- Pour into glass over ice.
- Garnish with pineapple wedge.
Skinny Grapefruit Moscow Mule
Ingredients
- 2 oz ginger beer
- 2 oz sparkling water
- 2 oz grapefruit juice
- 2 oz vodka
- 2 tsp lime juice
- 1 grapefruit
- 1 lime
- 2 oz ice
Instructions
- Add all ingredients into a mixing tin.
- Fill with ice and shake well.
- Pour into glass over ice.
- Garnish with grapefruit slices and lime slices.
White Wine Spritzer
Ingredients
- 3 oz chilled wine
- 3 oz sparkling water
- 2 mint leaves
- 1 lemon
- 2 oz ice
Instructions
- Add all ingredients into a mixing tin.
- Fill with ice and shake well.
- Garnish with mint leaves and lemon slices.
Skinny Strawberry Pineapple Mimosa
Ingredients
- 3 oz extra dry champagne
- 3 oz sparkling water
- 1 oz pineapple juice
- 1 strawberry
- 2 oz ice
Instructions
- Add all ingredients into a mixing tin.
- Fill with ice and shake well.
- Garnish with strawberry slices.
Skinny Summer Margarita
Ingredients
- 4 oz unsweetened coconut water
- 2 oz tequila
- 1 oz orange juice
- 1 oz lime juice
- 1 lime
- 1 orange
- 2 oz ice
Instructions
- Add all ingredients into a mixing tin.
- Fill with ice and shake well.
- Garnish with an orange slice and lime slice.
