10 Healthy Habits that Will Change Your Life

Shop the Look

Happy New year! I will never be one of those new year, new me people. I really strive to keep healthy habits in place year-round. But…if you haven’t been prioritizing your healthy lately, it is always a great time to re-focus and start building those healthy habits into your life.

The holiday season always gets so crazy for all of us! So I thought it was the perfect time to share 10 daily habits I added into my life over the past year. They have been huge for me! And they can honestly help change your life physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Check them out below and let me know some of your favorite healthy habits you add to your list daily.

10 Healthy Habits

1.) Begin your day with a full glass of water. Before I allow myself any coffee or anything else, I start my day with a full glass of water. Staying hydrated is so important, and it’s an easy way to recharge in the morning and start your day off right.

2.) Don’t forget to floss! This might seem so small and easy, but it can easily get forgotten. We take care of our hair and bodies, let’s not forget our teeth and gums!

3.) Apply sunscreen and your daily moisturizer. No matter how sunny or how overcast it is, you always need sunscreen. I love one that has a light moisturizer in it, or I will apply some vitamin C afterward. It’s great to hydrate your skin while also protecting it from the sun’s harmful rays.

4.) Make a to-do list. And make sure to add in things you love to the list also! A to-do list doesn’t just have to be boring or all work. It’s just what you want to prioritize for the day. You make your own to-do list, so make sure to schedule some time in there doing something you love also.

5.) Prioritize movement first thing in the morning and get outdoors at least once per day! Going on a walk, a hike, a bike ride, or even stretching or doing yoga outdoors. It’s a great way to get in some activity while also getting your own natural dose of vitamin D.

6.) Start with a protein-rich breakfast. And make sure to prioritize whole foods daily without added sugars. I try to start my first meal off right for the day after fasting for 16 hours, so I always try to add in more protein. Eggs, fish, chicken or even overnight oats with added protein powder. I highly limit processed foods and don’t eat gluten. I do most of my own cooking too, which is not only better and more cost-effective, but it’s a relaxing hobby that I now enjoy each day.

7.) Take time to destress each day by having some time to yourself. Read a book, focus on a chapter of the Bible, write in your journal, do pilates, and take a bath. Do something for you that relaxes and calms you.

8.) Take time to connect with those around you. Call a friend, grab lunch with a family member, ask your children about their day, or watch a movie with your husband after you put the kids to bed. We all need connection each day, especially with our friends, family members, and spouse.

9.) Wash your face! No matter how tired I am, where I’m at, or how early or late it is, I always wash my face at night. Then apply your favorite night cream. Retinol or glycolic is always my favorite.

10.) Prioritize getting at least 8-9 hours of sleep. I know they sometimes say 7-8, but I like to aim for 9. When you count in how often you make wake up or be stirring and not in a deep sleep, your deep restorative sleep maybe even less than you thought. This is when our body heals itself and recharges. Give it that time to do its job!

my top ten healthy habits

Let me know if you do any of these habits and if there are any good ones I left off. And above all, don’t stress if you do all of these each day. And don’t stress if you just can’t find the time. Do what works for you. But anytime you can start building a healthy habit in your day, it will always be a win.
