A couple months I had my first microneedling with PRP appointment at Memphis Laser Clinic. I’ve had microneedling done before over the years, but never with the PRP. I was so happy with the results, and I have to share all about microneedling with PRP for the people who are curious what it is. I’m sure you have all seen all the pictures of people with bright red skin and blood on them and wondering what exactly is this procedure. Keep reading to find out!

My Microneedling Experience
Most of you have probably heard of microneedling before. It is a procedure used to improve the texture of your skin, including fine lines and wrinkles, pore size, and acne scarring. Microneedling is minimally-invasive and is a safe and effective way to improve the texture of your skin. It also has little downtime. During a microneedling procedure, a special pen uses tiny needles to create holes, or “micro-injuries”, in the skin. These tiny holes minimize cellular damage while also stimulating the body’s natural wound-healing process by producing collagen and new skin cells.
Adding PRP or platelet rich plasma to your microneeding procedure, helps expedite the healing process…some even call PRP “liquid gold!” During your appointment, they will apply numbing cream to your face to help with feeling the microneedling pen. Then they will draw your blood and process it to use for the PRP portion of the procedure. After 45 minutes of applying the numbing cream, you are reading for your procedure to start. The entire actual microneedling only takes about 3o minutes!
The procedure flew by, and the numbing cream helped so much. I could barely even feel it on my face. It felt like a little vibration or massage on my skin. The pen is rolled over your entire face (not eyelids.) Afterwards, the PRP is applied to the skin. It really does rejuvinate your skin afterwards! This procedure is basically painless thanks to the numbing cream, minimally invasive and has very minimal downtime. My skin was a little red and dry for at least 1 week afterwards.
Immediately following the procedure, there is slight redness post treatment. It typically subsides within 24 hours. The benefits of microneedling with PRP is that it can improve the texture of your skin and boost collagen production. It addresses enlarged pores, acne scars, uneven skin tone, fine line and wrinkles and sun spots. These treatments can be done monthly and best results are seen in a series. I am so happy with the results and definitely recommend adding this your skincare lineup seasonally at Memphis Laser Clinic.
