Eagles Ridge Resort
One of the best parts of our trip was staying at Eagles Ridge Resort. We actually stayed here on a previous visit too, and it was just as wonderful the second time around. Our three-bedroom cabin had plenty of room for everyone, a game room downstairs, large decks overlooking the trees, a hot tub, grill, and a full kitchen. The kids loved exploring outside while we enjoyed relaxing on the deck after a full day of sightseeing. If you’re traveling with kids, I highly recommend staying in a cabin. Having separate bedrooms, a full kitchen, and extra space to spread out makes vacation so much more relaxing, especially if you’re staying for more than a couple of days.
Best Things to Do in Pigeon Forge with Kids
Dollywood
Dollywood is always one of the highlights of our trip, and it truly is one of the best theme parks for families. There are rides for every age, incredible live entertainment, delicious food, playgrounds for younger kids, and beautiful landscaping throughout the park. Whether you’re traveling with toddlers, older kids, or even grandparents, there is something for everyone to enjoy. No matter how many times we visit, we always find something new to experience. If you’re visiting during the warmer months, Dollywood’s Splash Country is another great option for families looking to cool off.
The Island in Pigeon Forge
The Island is one of those places we visit almost every trip. Between the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel, family-friendly rides, restaurants, shopping, live music, dancing fountains, and plenty of sweet treats, it’s easy to spend several hours here. It is especially pretty at night when everything lights up. Even if you don’t plan to ride anything, it’s a fun place to walk around, enjoy the atmosphere and let the kids burn off some energy while you take in all the sights.
Cades Cove
If you only have time for one scenic drive during your trip, make it Cades Cove. Located inside Great Smoky Mountains National Park, this beautiful 11-mile loop is filled with mountain views, historic cabins and churches, wildlife, and plenty of places to stop and explore. During our visits we’ve seen deer, wild turkeys, and even black bears. Every drive through Cades Cove is a little different, which is one of the reasons we keep coming back. Pack a picnic lunch, bring your camera and plan to spend a few hours exploring. Trust me—you’ll want to stop often.
Pigeon Forge Snow
No matter what time of year you visit, you can enjoy snow tubing at Pigeon Forge Snow. As America’s first indoor snow park, it offers year-round fun for both kids and adults. The tubing hills are so much fun, and it’s one of those attractions everyone in the family can enjoy together. It also makes a great rainy-day activity or a fun way to cool off during the summer months.
Goats on the Roof
Goats on the Roof has become one of the most iconic attractions in Pigeon Forge, and yes, there really are goats on the roof! The kids loved feeding the goats, but our favorite part was riding the mountain coaster. Leighton and I loved it so much that we immediately got back in line for another ride. If your family enjoys a little adventure, this is definitely one stop you’ll want to add to your itinerary. Don’t forget to grab some goat food before heading outside. Watching the goats come over to eat is half the fun!
Toy Box Mini Golf
Mini golf is always a hit with kids, and Toy Box Mini Golf is one of the cutest courses in town. The colorful toy-themed course has plenty of fun photo opportunities, interactive holes, and larger-than-life toys that make it entertaining for both kids and adults. It’s the perfect activity when you’re looking for something fun that the whole family can enjoy together. And don’t forget to stop inside the candy store before you leave. The kids thought that was just as exciting as mini golf itself!
Pirate’s Voyage Dinner & Show
If you’re looking for an evening activity the whole family will enjoy, Pirate’s Voyage Dinner & Show is always a great choice. Between the pirates, acrobatics, diving, music, and incredible special effects, there is never a dull moment. River Rat
Rafting in the Smokies ended up being one of our favorite adventures we’ve ever done in the Smoky Mountains. The Old Mill is one of the most iconic restaurants in Pigeon Forge and a place we recommend to everyone visiting the area. Known for its Southern comfort food, homemade breads, and beautiful location along the Little Pigeon River, it’s a great place to enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Be prepared for a wait during busy times, but it’s well worth it.
Local Goat
If you’re looking for a casual restaurant with something for everyone, Local Goat is always a great choice. Their burgers are fantastic, the menu has plenty of variety, and it’s a great spot to refuel after a busy day of exploring.
Huck Finn’s Catfish
If your family loves classic Southern cooking, Huck Finn’s Catfish is another local favorite. They’re known for their catfish, fried chicken, and endless family-style sides that everyone can share.
Big Daddy’s Pizzeria

One of the biggest tips I can give is to leave a little room in your schedule to simply relax. It can be tempting to pack every day full of attractions, but some of our favorite memories have been spending time at the cabin, letting the kids play outside, and soaking in the hot tub after a busy day. If you’re visiting during peak seasons like spring break, summer, or fall, I also recommend purchasing tickets ahead of time for popular attractions and arriving early whenever possible. Wear comfortable shoes because you’ll be doing a lot of walking, and don’t forget to pack layers since the weather in the Smoky Mountains can change throughout the day. If you’re staying for several days, renting a cabin with a kitchen makes meals much easier and gives everyone plenty of space to spread out and unwind.
