Boot season is officially here! This month’s Trend Spin Linkup is all about boots and I’m sharing a few easy ways to style your favorite pairs throughout fall and well into winter. For today’s look, I paired this dark floral romper from VICI with my tan Lucchese cowboy boots. I love how the darker floral print transitions into fall while the Western boots give the entire outfit a more seasonal look. It is perfect for those early fall days when the weather is still warm but you are ready to start dressing for the new season.
Style Western Boots with Dresses and Rompers
Western boots are having such a moment right now, but a beautifully made pair will always be timeless. My Lucchese boots are one of those pairs I can wear year after year. The neutral tan leather works with practically everything, and they are an easy way to add a little personality to a dress or romper. This floral VICI romper is a great example of how to begin wearing boots before the temperatures truly cool down. The long sleeves and darker colors are made for fall while the shorter length keeps the outfit comfortable on warmer days. As the season progresses, I can add a denim jacket, leather jacket or long cardigan. When winter arrives, I can create a similar look with a sweater dress, tights and these same Lucchese boots.
Pair Ankle Boots with Straight-Leg Denim
Ankle boots are a classic for a reason. They work with nearly every style of denim and can easily take you from daytime plans to dinner. Straight-leg and cropped jeans are especially easy to style with ankle boots because the hem can sit right above the top of the boot. For fall, pair them with jeans, a fitted tee and a lightweight jacket. Once winter arrives, replace the tee with a sweater and add a wool coat.
Wear Tall Boots with Skirts and Dresses
Tall boots are one of my favorite ways to continue wearing dresses and skirts through the colder months. Knee-high boots provide extra coverage and warmth while giving an outfit a polished look. Try pairing tall boots with a mini skirt and sweater in early fall. As the weather cools, add tights and a longer coat. Tall boots also look beautiful with midi dresses, especially when the dress hem slightly overlaps the top of the boot.
Try Boots with Leggings and an Oversized Sweater
Some winter days call for an outfit that is comfortable, warm and easy. Leggings, an oversized sweater and boots are always a reliable combination. Choose tall riding boots for a classic look or pair your leggings with lug-sole boots for something more casual. Add a long coat, scarf and structured handbag to keep the outfit polished while still being practical for a busy day.
Use Texture to Add Interest
Winter wardrobes tend to include plenty of neutral colors, so texture becomes even more important. Suede, leather, shearling and embossed finishes can add interest to even the simplest outfit. A quality leather pair like my Lucchese boots only gets better with time. Western stitching and a beautiful leather finish make the boots the focal point of an outfit without limiting how many ways I can wear them.
Choose Boots You Will Actually Wear
As much as I love a beautiful pair of boots, comfort matters. Look for a heel height that works for your everyday routine and enough room to wear socks during winter. The best boots are the ones you will reach for repeatedly. Boots make it easy to transition the pieces you already own from one season to the next. Start with bare legs and lighter pieces like this VICI romper during early fall, then add sweaters, tights and coats as winter approaches.
