Chambray + Giveaway!

Is it just me or did the weekend just fly by?  The temperature was great, but I’m ready for the rain to take a break.  I’ll go ahead and warn you this post if quite random, but we all love random stuff, right?  First, I just bought this chambray shirt last month but it’s already sold out now.  I just love it though.  It is a great neutral and versatile piece, and I keep finding myself looking for more and more stuff to wear with it.  I copied this look from Pretty in Pink Megan.  She is a great Memphis fashion blogger and actually the first fashion blooger I ever started following.  Shortly after I found her blog I saw this outfit post and couldn’t refrain from going out and buying the same skirt at Old Navy.  I ended up getting it on clearance for $12, and it has been worth every penny as much as I’ve worn it.  I wore this last week when it ended up being 70 degrees.  And now it’s 30 today; welcome to Memphis.  What are your favorite things to wear with chambray?

On Sunday, Shane and I finally made it over to the Downtown Y for the first time in 2013.  I’m slacking, believe me I know.  Since it was so gloomy outside we decided to just play racquetball, but I had to just snap this great view as we were heading to the courts to play.

We had a $30 gift card, so we decided to go to Blue Fin in downtown Memphis last night.  I’ve always loved Blue Fin because it is owned by the same company Sekisui is owned by so they have a similar menu.  Personally I like the food a little better at Sekisui, but Blue Fin has more traditional style meals in addition to sushi and other Japanese food.  We started with their miso soup, and I think it was the best miso I’ve ever had.  It had scallions and mushrooms in it.  I didn’t think their house salad with crab meat in it and ginger dressing was that special (once again I prefer Sekisui’s house salad with crab), so I’ll definitely just order miso soup next time for an appetizer.

For dinner I had the Smoked Pork Tenderloin with Blue Cheese Butter, Brussel Sprouts and Cherry Jus.  This entree was really good.  The brussel sprouts were cooked perfectly and I loved the blue cheese butter (really just a blue cheese sauce.)  The only thing I would have changed is that I would order the tenderloin medium rare next time.  I usually always order medium rare, but for some reason I ordered it medium last night and it was a little drier than I like.  Near the middle of the tenderloin, it was much more tender though.  I would definitely order this entree again though.  I love Blue Fin and would definitely recommend it.  Shane and I actually went there to eat on our wedding night after the reception.
