Running + HarePeace No Slip Hairband Giveaway!!

One day closer to the weekend – what, what.  I’m looking forward to doing a whole lot of nothing this weekend.  For the next month or two, I will be doing a race most every weekend so I’m relaxing this weekend and then going to Vegas next weekend with some of my family.  Can’t wait!!  While yall are out creeping on some blogs today, make sure to check out my post with Skinny Meg today!  Don’t forget to enter the 3 giveaways here, here and here.  And keep reading to see today’s giveaway for a HarePeace No Slip Running Hairband!
These pictures are from the Move it Memphis 5K I did the weekend before last.  This run goes through Downtown Memphis and is a pretty nice course.  This is the third time I’ve done this particular race.  Shane decided to run the 10K that day, and it was the first run he has done with me in almost a year, so I was excited.  See, we used to run together all the time.  We would usually do at least 1 organized run or bike ride most every month, but now he usually works all weekend long so that has quickly changed.  Even though I only see him at the start line, it was still nice to be there with him that day.  Plus it’s motivation for me to see how far I can run with him still in my field of vision.  I usually never make it more than a mile, and he’s gone!  It was pretty chilly and windy that morning and we were running late so I had no time to go back to the vehicle to put my race tee up so I had to run with it around my waist.  Not the best idea, but it would have to do.  I did not have a good time at all, but I’ve just really started back up with running this year, so I’m okay with that.  This was actually my first 5K of the year, but don’t worry I’m planning on doing about 5-20 this year.  My time was 29:47 which is a pace of 9:36/mile.  My best time was last August at 25:52 with a pace of 8:20, so I’m going to be training hard this spring and summer (once I’m out of school for a summer break) to get back up to this time and hopefully set a new PR.  I can’t wait for it to get just a tad warmer.  I love running outdoors.  It’s my me time.
To get you ready for running season, I’ve teamed up with Brooke from HarePeace this week.  When I received my package of hairbands, I could see that Brooke really cares about her product and her customers.  She put so much detail and care into the package.  She even included candy, score!  Brooke is a mother of 5.  She homeschools and loves coming up with new business ventures…. HarePeace Hairbands started on a whim…from a friend…who wanted her to make her volleyball team some super cool headbands that don’t slip, and so the adventure started.  She made them and a few extra, and they sold like hot cakes!   She knew about Etsy and decided to give it a try.  She continues to enjoy this creative outlet, and she loves picking out new ribbon!   She sews each headband with care and gives the credit of the excellent quality to her old Singer Sewing machine.   It sews like no other.
The name…well, the Velvetine Rabbit is a story that has a special place in Brooke’s heart, and the main attraction to the headbands is the velvet back, soft and velvety.  The hare as we all know is a fast creature and the headbands are for athletes, runners, busy moms, etc….making peace with your hair, a little pun on hair/hare…HarePeace.

  1. I ran the Move it Memphis 5k last year- I like that you get to run through downtown. I need to get back in shape so I can do one again. As far as the cute headbands, I would go with the gold since I'm on a gold kick these days. 🙂

  2. Black for me! It's the only color that looks right in my dark hair. Lordy…Carter needs a haircut so bad. Brian was supposed to take him about a month ago. Hmmmm. Y'all have fun in Vegas. I think I made your dad feel bad for not inviting me. Lol! I've only been a billion times. I need to make y'all a list of must see stuff.

  3. By the way! I just noticed you'll be running a half at about the same time I will =) I'm running the Blue RIdge Half in Roanoke, VA 4/20! I just started running again this year and have already completed a few races!!! Good luck and have fun!

  4. I like the silver. I was thinking about speed walking (I don't run) my first 5k this year. The Go Lucy Go 5k will be my first 5k ever as long as things work out and I can do it… I have 2 little ones so you never know what will happen.

  5. I love the black one! I am going to participate in my first "fun run" in a couple of weeks for the annual St. Patrick's Day celebration! I am nervous, but really excited!

  6. Those head bands are too cute! I think I would like the silver or the white.

I'm a new follower! How awesome that you are doing so many 5k races!
