SHOP MY MASTER CLOSET ORGANIZATION ESSENTIALS:
If there is one thing I’ve come to loath, it’s an unorganized closet. As I’ve gotten older, I am finding more and more that I really thrive in an organized home. Y’all might have seen last week that I talked a little bit about kitchen organization and the best way to organize your pots and pans.
Today, I wanted to chat a little bit about organizing a closet. When we moved into our new house, we didn’t have a ton of time to organize and get things really neat. So we sort of just put things where we thought they worked best. But over the last little while, it’s grown to be a bit of a mess.
I decided to totally clear the closet out, and rearrange to make things more efficient. In the process of doing that, I found that there were certain tips and tricks that helped me really make this a space I love!
5 Essential Master Closet Organization Tips:
1.) Get rid of what you do not love, do not need or do not wear.
This is a crucial step in the process! Purging things that don’t fit you, things you don’t wear anymore, or anything you just genuinely do not need. Donate those things to a friend or your local Salvation Army or Good Will!
2.) Organize into sections.
In the morning, most of us tend to get dressed in “sections” of sorts. We pick out the shirt we want to wear, then the pants, and finally some accessories. I’ve found that putting those types of things into sections in the closet makes getting dressed so much smoother! Putting like things together will save you time and space in the long run.
3.) Maximize storage space by using bins, hooks, shelves, drawers, etc.
Get bins for extra clothing items that can’t hang up. Utilize dividers for drawers. If you have too many shoes, a cute basket is a great idea for storing sandals that you can stack or line the basket with. If you’re still short on space, over the door storage is such great way to store extra shoes. I have hooks on the back of my door for robes. And I have hooks on the side of my built-in dresser to store belts.

Before the purge and declutter
Grayson almost got lost in all of our things, haha!
Once the closet was totally empty it was like a breath of fresh air, getting to start with a clean slate! This is a great chance to wipe down the shelves, vacuum and mop the floors!
The finished product makes me so so happy. I can’t tell you how much this made smile, y’all.
I even sorted things by color to make getting ready in the morning even easier!
