SHOP OUR EASTER FAMILY PICTURES LOOKS:
While we were in Pigeon Forge last week, of course we couldn’t resist getting some new family pictures taken. We haven’t had any taken since Christmas, and all the kids are just growing too fast! With the beautiful scenic mountain background, I knew it would be the perfect backdrop for Easter family pictures.
When taking family pictures, the first thing I think about is where to take them at. We went with the mountains and kept in mind the scenery – lots of green and picturesque mountains in the background. That coupled with Easter and spring led me to decide on a pastel color theme. Next comes what to wear. First I picked out the girls’ dresses. I feel like they are alway the hardest to find something cute for in both of their sizes. And I have to make sure they like them too. But a pink dress is usually always a yes for them.
After I picked out their dresses, I picked out Grayson’s outfit. I knew I wanted something springy or summery, so a romper it was! I decided blue would be the easiest color to find, and I knew that Matt and I could easily find something to coordinate. I usually only recommend mixing in 1-2 small prints that coordinate, so I decided to get Gray the striped outfit. And then for the rest of us, we went with solids.
It was pretty easy to pick out a matching blue polo shirt for Matt. I didn’t have the same color blue or pink and decided that a neutral white would be great to mix in with the blues and pinks and to pull out the white stripe in Grayson’s outfit. I think the colors and prints all stand out against the gorgeous background, but just enough to still let the view shine on its own too. And how cute do the girls look with baby Grayson?
For poses with 3 kids, we have learned that simple is best. First we got pictures of just the girls together doing their thing they love – twirling! They were loving it and having so much fun. And a great candid shot is always so cute. Then we had them sit down and take some pictures by themselves. Then we typically add in the baby knowing he will only sit still for a few at best. Then we let him show off his new favorite skill of walking.
Then after they have ran around and played and done their thing with some candid shots, we usually add in all 3 kids with us for a quick few shots. These are always the hardest ones to get. After all, it is 5 people total! But we ended up a with a few that turned out great. If we can just get the 2 older kids to look at the camera, all we need to do is make the baby smile. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn’t. But the good thing is we already had plenty of cute candid shots of the kids together and separately first to use if we had to.
And of course we couldn’t forget a few sweet shots of Matt and I together. Believe it or not ,before I started blogging, I never had professional pictures done, and I never had any family pictures. Now I love having family pictures taken for each season. I love that I will always have all the special memories to look back on.
